Whats it like in October

Postby Diane Rigby » 14 Feb 2010 18:27

I have just booked our flights for last week of October. Now to book our accomodation and just have a few questions.

1. What sort of time does it get dark in October.
2. Will it still be quite busy with people walking around in the evening.
3. What time do the shops/cancal stalls shut on a night time.
4. Will there still be plenty of bars/restaurants to go to eat at night.
5. If I stay in the old village is it going to be a long lonley walk back at night to the apartments.
6. Would I be best to stay in the centre.
7. Will I need a coat at night and a brolly?

Sorry for all the questions; even though I have been to Icmeler every year since 2003 I have never been this late in the season (hubby jobs forces these dates). Any info very much appreciated.

Diane.

Thanks for the reply Bill. We usually stay at the Sevgi (sorry not ICR)up by the Prestige but was a bit worried about the long walk down to town at night. May be I may stay at the Ustun then, will have to think about it overnight, finding it hard to decide. Diane.

Diane, we go every October and its a lovely time of the year. It can get a little cooler in the night time and you may need a cardie, but the days are usually glorious and good for sun-bathing. We stayed in the old village last October, and we didnt find it bad going back there after our evenings out.

You can experience a few thunderstorms at that time of year too, but they clear up really quickly and are spectacular to watch, but saying that, we didnt have any last year. We went 3rd - 17th Oct last year.

Thanks reesy1959. Where about did you stay in the old village and what time do the shops/canal stalls start to close. We like to have a stroll around the shops at night time after our evening meal but I think they probably shut up shop early later in the seasons. I have had my feet done at 12 o'clock midnight many a time. I think this is going to be very different from when we go in July/August. Thanks Di.

We've been in October for three years running now, and each time, we've been really lucky with the weather. It does get a little cooler in the evenings, but a cardi is ample. As others have said, you will get some of the bars etc beginning to close, especially towards the latter half of the month, but there are still plenty of places open. I personally think it's a really nice time to visit Icmeler - as it's that bit quieter, you get more time to talk to folk in the bars and restaurants, etc.

some shops will close early when it gets late on in the month but it sometimes depends on what kind of day they have had or what the weather is like
but they wont close that early like 11pm or something like that
im sure you will have a lovely time and october can be really nice weather wise
last year when we went it was really hot still and we came home on the 23rd october
