Renovations in Icmeler

Postby Jordan » 09 Feb 2010 16:29

Just got back from two weeks in Icmeler plenty of sunshine plenty of rain also plenty of efes. There has been a number of changes but they are for the better it will make icmeler the five star resort it once was as it had deteriorated over the last few years. Most of the bars are being rebuilt but to a much higher standard with much better tiolets etc.I can highly reccomend the cafe del mar which has been renovated to a high standard and I wish them every success. The beach front is currently being landscaped and looks much nicer. The street where the prince and the efendi hotel is has been beautifully block paved complete with fountain.lineakers has been completly demolished looking at it I don't think that will be rebuilt?Love boat is currently being rebuilt. Most bars will be rebuilt but they must stand back two metres from the pavement and built to regulations i.e adequate toilets and kitchen facilities. There is now cctv on the canal it is all to stop the hassle which had got a lot worse lately because there were too many bars competing. The Korsan bar has gone and the irish bar is still there being renovated so for all you regular icmelites I think you have plenty to look forward to on your next visit. It is amazing what they have done in such a short space of time.Having bought a place there five years ago I welcome these changes and all the english that live there do too.I will post some pictures for you to decide for yourself. The munamar has been bought and will be closed for 2010 for complete renovation. The bars along bar street remain the same as they didn't have any areas that they could extend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there the only off putting thing was that there were packs of dogs there (Big dogs that were vicious)I am a dog lover myself but this needs some control before someone gets seriously hurt.Especially during the season when there will be children on holiday.Hope I have not bored you?

Thanks for that update, Jordan - I think it will put a lot of people's minds at rest. I for one can't wait for my next visit to see all the changes which have taken place.

The love boat and the sports bar look like they are being rebuilt it also looks like they are going to do something on the top after all it is their own hotel and as long as they stay within regulations they can do what they want.

Thanks Jordan

We looked at a few places in 2006 & 7 then had a couple of years to look at other areas . When we returned in 2009 thought it had gone down hill a bit so up to now we fancy datca but if icmeler is getting back to the place it used to be who knows

All sounds interesting. Not so keen on the idea of packs of dogs, sounds too much like a certain area I used to live in
