Will anyone be starting a new 'google earth map' when we get to know what has been demolished and certainly where the likes of Stella show has been re-sited, along with new or re-named restaurants and bars?

The old map was very well used. Maybe some of the earlier visitors (myself included) would contribute.

I've been thinking about tidying the map up a bit, but due to the size of it this is quite a big task

Instead what I thought about doing was leaving the current map "as-is" so people can update it just like they can now, but also providing a "cleaned-up", read-only version if people only want to browse it.

This is actually quite a bit easier (I think) as I can grab all the data from the first map, remove any old entries, make sure everything has proper names and the right symbol, sort in into alphabetical order, etc. then make that available for people to view in Google Maps and/or Earth. Unfortunately what I can't do (as far as I can tell) is make that new map updatable, but provided I repeat the process every couple of weeks or so to pick up changes I think that should be OK.

What does everyone else think?

I think that would be great if you're willing to do so. I'm pretty sure the maps have been invaluable to many on here - first-time visitors and regulars alike, so a new updated version would be very handy indeed and much appreciated.

Paul that would be fantastic as I must admit the old map is out of date and quite a few markers are in the wrong position as people have moved them by mistake.

I can certainly create a blank one for Marmaris, and then let people take it from there (I can find Tansas, McDonalds and the bazaar but that's about it ). I'll add it to my TODO list...

Got to say that current maps fantastic. It was a massive help when booking our first trip to Icmeler last year, and gave us an understanding of the layout of the resort and location of recomended restaurants etc before we'd even arrived. I'm now constantly refering to it for this years trip. Really can't decide on accomodation and am using it to place various hotels and apartments before finally booking. Would be great if an updated version was done.
