A perfect Icmeler Virtual Bar

Postby Colette » 29 Nov 2009 19:18

So guys winter is here and I am getting a little bored.

The Chill Bar is up for rent , so lets make a virtual bar up, if you could create our perfect bar in Icmeler what would we have in it, what music would you play, what would we call it , would you have cats in it  what colours would it be, what furnishings would you have in it, ie sofas ? What would you call it ?

It's your own design and your bar, so lets play ..................

This has always been my dream and if I had the money would certainly do it. It would be called La Caje and would be a very professional dance show, decked out like a proper theatre. I think that is what Icmeler is missing a decent dinner and show venue.

The chill bar wouldn't be big enough obviously but with a bigger venue that is what I would like to do.

Something much more traditional, ONLY turkish food, not trying to be bit of everything, turkish music - bit folk dancing, but also turkish pop which is great to dance to! when i went to Cappaddocia(?) many places still like this and very popular and full! i tried to persuade my business partner in this direction couple years ago, but he felt wasnt what tourists in Icmeler wanted as it was the "dance bar" type places that were always the busy places :(

I like the suggestion made by Tigerlily, something that presented the Turkish culture and thier older ways of life of days gone by. Would be a complete change from the fun bars and westernised music, of which Icmeler has enough to satisfy the requirement already.

Afternoon All,

Having seen this post recently it got me thinking! For the last couple of years I have been having creative thoughts about opening a bar in Icmeler/Marmaris. I have quite a diverse taste in music & I am quite happy listening to all the kinds of music Icmeler/Marmaris currently provide us with while on holiday. A few years ago I brought my boyfriend at the time & his best mate to Icmeler for a 2 week holiday. Where I have quite a diverse taste in music, the lads dont! They are strictly into Heavy Metal & this also happens to be one of the genres I also enjoy listening to. The boys got quite bored of all the 'holiday' music that was played everywhere in Icmeler/Marmaris. This started off my thinking.

When I am on holiday, I like alot of you, like to have a few drinks in the evenings (sometimes if convinced by Donna on a day trip, start in the morning/early afternoon). At around 12am when the music is turned down is about when I am ready for some alternative music therapy. Obviously while on holiday I have great difficulties in obtaining this alternative music therapy other than my own iPOD, but that does not really cut it. What I would love is for there to be an alternative club where Heavy Metal can be played & enjoyed by those that appreciate this kind of music.

I appreciate that this may not be the kind of club/pub that most forum members would like to see opening in Icmeler & I would agree with you as It is not what Icmeler needs but I feel that Icmeler/Marmaris is missing an alternative to all the 'holiday' music. In my opinion the best place for it would be Bar Street in Marmaris.

I would call the bar/club Black Yildiz. It would be decorated in black & red with silver accessories. It wouild play alternative heavy music & be open till 4am like the other clubs along Bar Street. I would run advertising campaigns in magazines such as Kerrang, Metal Hammer, NME back in the UK to get the word out to the relevant kind of people.

I am aware that in most communities, people from alternative music groups/followings have a bad reputation within communities. This is normally incorrect - just because some of us look different does not mean you will come to any harm by talking to us.

I already feel that this may create some some debate on this forum & that was not my intention. I just wanted to give a different opinion to a bar that I would like to see/attend in Icmeler/Marmaris.

Just need to find me a wealthy man so I can put my dream in action!

I was having a little daydream about this topic on a long and dreary bus ride recently.

I'd like to open a new bar down at the end of the new marina. I know some of you would think this is a little way out but I'd like to reinstate the little tractor/train that used to run round icmeler to ferry people to/from the bar from the main square.

My bar would play the usual icmeler holiday music and plenty of R&B/soul. The decor would be based around traditional Turkish patterns with the rich colours usually found in belly dance costumes.I would like to have a late licence so that music could stay on for longer than midnight - and this shouldn't cause problems for those wanting an early night or local residents because the bar would be out of the way at the end of the pier.

During the quieter hours of daytime I thought it might be nice to hold dance lessons as an alternative activity for those that get bored lounging by the beach/pool. I would love ISO to give belly dance lessons!

My barmen would be Josh Holloway lookalikes, my doorman would be Johnny Depp, it would be cocktail hour at any time and there would definitely be "dancing waiters"!

Traditional Turkish food would be served and the chefs would be instructed to save all the scraps for the local cats!

I was thinking I would like a name along the lines of Yildiz but I see that Zeynap has pinched that one! Like Zeynep, I could fulfil this dream without the backing of a wealthy man but I've had a wonderful few minutes of escapism - thank you for the topic suggestion.

why not get a petition going regarding starting the tractor train again, the was the first thing we did when going back to icemeler every year, get onto the train and then you could see all the changes that had been made also we met several of our friends that had changed bars or restuarants as we travelled round, we have had some great times on the dolly train bring it back please :( :( :(

I never had the inclination to visit bar street this year but have for many years before and the was actually a rock/heavy metal bar on the right hand side walking up toward Netsel Marina end and facing Ambience I think.

They used to have live acts at the weekend.

Maybe it's still there I don't know

We will back you re the train as long as it doesn't have that infernal whistle, didn't that drive everyone mad!!!!
Mind you the way the fare had gone up just before they finished not many of us would be doing more than one trip, unless of course they took our "Bus Passes", instead of lira
