Lamachun, Lavash, Mezes, Pide, Casseroles, Kebabs, home made soups, Ottoman Dishes, Menemen, Cak Kavurna (sp?), to name but a few, the chefs specials are usually very good as well.

Sorry Joash,but this came to mind the second I read your post.
In addition to the items list by Claret Al are the fish sea bass or bream baked in the oven encase in salt and everyones favourite the Leg of Lamb slowerly cooked in the pot.

Got back from Icmeler Tuesday and was our first time. My 15 year old son is kebeb mad so we had to find a good kebeb place before we did anything. The best we had was on the road down to the beach on same side of road as Oscars, they make everything in front of you and cut meat fresh for each order, absolutely delicious!!! We also tried fish in salt in Titanic and found it beautiful. highly recommended. Cant wait to go back next year

Best one that we found was as you came out the door of Buffalos, turn left then left at the end of the road, past a bar and there you were, as the wife said "Its full of Turks it must be OK"

There was a cafe type place on the way into the old Village just past The Wayside and just before you got to Sylvias Kitchen-freshly cooked Lamachun (a kind of plate sized thin flat pizza with spicy mincemeat and peppers and herbs) with salad was 1.5 lira a portion( about 65p) I had 2 and was stuffed.

My wife had a 'plain kebab' which turned out to be a huge stack of delicious spicy chicken on a wrap type thingy again served with lovely fresh salad and that was ony 9 lira (about £3.20).

Honestly you can not go wrong with the food in Icmeler whatever your tastes but the good thing is even if you do pick something you end up not liking and point it out to your hosts chances are they will change it for you-they would rather you enjoyed your meal than you go away unhappy (unlike some places in the UK where the attitude would be "tough, you chose it-pay up"!

Had a nice Iskender kebab at a place close to the school washed down with a glass of Raki+water,
If you get the chance try KoKorec I have not had this myself but its top of my list for trying ( just cant find anyone that sells it).

thanks for the reminder about iskender kebabs Katie - we fly out on Friday night and I've been racking my brains trying to think of what they're called
Had one in summer and it was gorgeous
The way the exchange rate's going, it's looking like kebabs will be all we can afford hehehehe

best food in ishmeler has to have been a testi kebab we had it at the robin hood and it was absolutly beutiful.mezzies at the bistro bar just up the road from robin hood were the best weve had the service and the food there was second to none too.
the worst meal we had was at our fav bar so i`ll not name it but the owner often asked us why we dont eat there.
last year the worst food wee had was from de ja vue (spell) horrible food, bar, service and price`s. we will never go there again.

We actually had our best meal there. Infact, it was so nice we ate there twice or maybe even three times. Not 100%.

The Garlic Bread with Cheese was delightful and I loved the calzones. Everybody else in the party loved there meals and my brother even got 2 massive Fish's with his Fish and Chips!

I also went for breakfast and because I don't like Bacon I was given 3 sausages instead.

Also, we had a lovely meal at Romance.

The worst place we went I do not know the name of. There was mostly Turks in there but they had a 14 lira deal on with any starter, any steak and a drink. Safe to say that we got what we paid for! I believe it was just up from Richard's Place.

Coco Beach on the sea front, we have eaten constantly there for the past 3 years and last year they did my husband the most fantastic slow roast lamb. When he had finished eating he said to me that he could just do with some bread to mop up the gravy and I was like don't be gross it might not be the done thing here. Anyway they over heard him and fetched him (at no extra charge) fresh bread so my husband invited them to join him as it was on a Sunday in the afternoon so three of them sat there mopping up the lamb gravy with fresh bread, I think my hubby thought he was in heaven (well actually he was because he was in Icmeler)

Can I say all Turkish food is delicious not just the lamb ................ enjoy
