Really enjoyed the Hotel Marti (Resort not Perla) three years ago.

Great pools, O'K food with lots of choice throughout the day, no apparent limit on drinks, private beach, free towels poolside, plenty of sun beds, friendly staff and enthusiastic (if not professional) day and night entertainers (if you get my drift). Not cheap but as my wife says "you get what you pay for".

This year we went S/C and enjoyed the huge variety of bars and restaurants in town but missed the big pools of The Marti. (our family is not particularly beach orientated).

Difficult to choose which I enjoyed most between S/C and AI.

Enjoy whatever you choose but don't go too cheap on AI as the food will be c**p.

Not the Blue Rainbow. I was there half board in September but only managed to eat at the hotel once which was salad and bread. The food was basically the same everyday and didn't look very appealing to me. Its very cheap to stay all inclusive so this probably relates to the quality of the food. From what I can gather you were allowed one ice cream per day and all drinks were served in plastic cups. No entertainment in the hotel so not a good place to stay in and have a drink.

I would recommend the Aqua hotel. We had a great time there and chose it because we had family staying there. I did a review on here about it. I did say at the end of the review I would be happier going SC or do what we did after are family had gone home and use it when you want.

Just a couple of additions.

If you miss the set meal times at the Marti there is an another restaurant area serving late breakfasts etc throughout the day. Here you can get Kebabs, Burgers, chips etc. Also Ice Cream is served free pretty much throughout the day and there is afternoon tea with lots of yummy cakes. 24 Hour Bar with air con in the reception area!!
