Postby Beau » 18 Sep 2009 19:46

well we have an apartment in alanya so have been there a few times and the police dont stop the hassling there
the turks are allowed to do it as much as they want which gets annoying after a while
so it looks like its just an icmeler thing :)

Went to Side last year and it was terrible, hassle all the time even on an afternoon stroll.

Went to Icmeler this year and what a difference.

our next door neighbours have recently returned from a cruise and they stopped off at Kusadasi and they said the hassle was terrible.....so much so that they both said that of all the places they visited, Turkey was the only place they didn't like, and a lot of fellow passengers felt the same. I tried to tell them that Icmeler is completely different but they seem to have made up their minds. it's a shame when peoples first visit to Turkey is ruined by these over zealous shopkeepers.

we went to kussadasi approx 6 years ago and was told not to go into the main town and shopping areas as when the cruise ships dock the shop keepers put there prices up as they think the people on the cruise ships are wealthy  we was told this by a shop keeper who had two different price labels and the hassle was horrendous ,we had to go back on one of these days cause i wanted to get something i had seen and we were going the next day i couldnt beleive the differance from previous visits.

Kusadasi was our first Turkey experience.

I agree with the previous remarks.

Really glad we found Icmeler, and it's true, the hassle is nothing compared to that place.

Although 2010 is out of the question for us, we WILL be back in 2011.

You have been warned.

We have recently returned from holidaying in Icmeler, and found that the hassling was not too bad.We have been to Calis beach and it happens there too,so its not just Icmeler. On holiday in Marmaris one year,my wife went ino a small shop looking for a present to take back home. She didn't see anything she liked and left.As she left she was passing a similar shop next door, and the shopkeeper, who was sitting on the step outside, shouted angrily at her because she had been in one shop, and did not go into his.He stopped his ranting when I crossed the road and stood beside her glaring at him :x
