Prices in resort!

Postby billyjoarmstrong » 14 Sep 2009 17:19

This is just a general post to anyone who has recently returned from Icmeler. A friend of the family has just come home and said the beer and food was expensive and prices in shops etc had gone up, they have been known to stretch the truth before but i just thought id ask on here.
I am off there with my son a week today and being a single mum i don't have alot of money.

Beer is 2-4 Lira depending where you drink.

Soft drinks usually same price.

6 course meal spotted at Charlys next to Linekers every nights for 14.90 Lira.

Chicken dishes in village near me 9 Lira and thats half a chicken and chip peas.

I know Vinces has some good specials on as in any casserole with chips veg etc and meze and soup 15 lira.

Any steak dish 20 Lira includes meze, soup and of course all your veg.

I took 5 of my neighbors there last nighta and they had Mezes to start, 2 had soup, 3 portions of borek, 2 steak Diane's, 1 calamari main meal, 1 plank steak and 1 lasagne, they also had 2 bottles of wine and a soda or two and a couple of colas for the grand sum of 139 Lira.

Converted to Sterling that is just over £11 per person.

it can be as cheap or as expensive as you like, look around, i tend to have the kids meals or snacks as in july i just couldnt eat a big meal, it was too hot, and no one minded when i asked for a snack menu.

i dont think the shops or stalls haggled as good as before, they seem to be charging more for some clothes/bags, but still good value i thourght.

you can always haggle with the restaurants, like, can the child have a free drink if we eat here? or free kids cocktail....? we were never told no...... :D

We try to vary it depending on our mood. Sometimes a set menu, other times we have a real nice slap up, still works out cheaper than eating out at home

Food and drink not too bad but clothes and bags do seem to be more expensive dont know if this is because we now have really affordable items here now, I wanted a bag for work when I was there in August and decided on a top price of £40 which I thought was reasonable for a good one. I didnt want a really cheap one so went to the better quality shops but was amazed when I was quoted £140 for a 'Radley' bag I said no and they came down to £110 but again I declined as the leather is good but nowhere near the quality of a genuine one, I paid £150 earlier in the year in one of the Radley Shops in Cheshire Oakes so would prefer to put a bit extra to and get a genuine. Hubby was looking at jeans but again silly prices in some shops.

Vodka and Tonic would be anything from 6-8 lira and this is local spirits. If you want smirnoff, its much more expensive due to the tax that Turkey has to pay on imports.

Many great places for a kebab, but my favourite is next to Wonderboys, I forget the name of the little kebab shop though.

Kebab shop next to wonderboys is the tasty spot very good it is to. They do a delivery service to your apartment if you phone your order through.
There is also an excellent kebab shop just below the florida resturant if your staying over that part of Icmeler.

I always found it handy when we stayed at Vinces - Demircioglu, as Phill is such a fussy eater and didnt always want an evening meal, but me being my usual starving self would pop over around midnight for a kebab.
