hiya,im new to forum although having been 2 icmeler a few times have visited the site quite a lot (and must say keep up the good work to everyone involved.) reading some of these posts almost makes me feel like im in icmeler! well enough babbling from me. in the past when we've been to icmeler we've always stayed down by the beach or on the canal but this year i'm going with my mother on the 25th sept yipeeeeeeee! we are staying in the ekinci palace and although i know its in the old village i was wondering if anyone could tell me where its next to i.e bars and restaurants. any info wold be appreciated and thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Nearest restaurant to Ekinci is Cubana,further along street is Love Star,turn right there and walk down the road there are loads of restaurants,Sony's, Harry Ram's,Nefes Pide,Romance to name a few.

And if you go the other direction , towards the old mosque ( which still works ) you will have miami and just a stride or two further on right hand side ......the marvelous CAPTAIN SINBADS RESTAURANT . sorry for shouting but it is the most relaxing place in Icmeler . Sidik is the man who runs this place and ex of the Efes Inn Hotel the standards and quality of food is second to none . He and his youngest brother Menap and cookchef ( thats his name ) offer great food at great prices with such a quiet and relaxing atmosphere .It just has to be tried . Trust Me

thanks dodgy dave, CAPTAIN SINBADS HERE WE COME quiet relaxation is exactly what this holiday is all about, went to olu deniz the beginning of august with me husband and 11yr old (who is usually fairly easy going) the sea air done somthing to him and he turned into a right pain in the ass, hence the nice quiet week in september, well that and the fact i needed my icmeler fix but wont tell the hubby that! thanks a lot.

The old village is a great location very relaxing , give the LOVE STAR Restaurant a try you wont be disapointed great food and relaxing atmosphere , you can watch the world go by .

hi everyone, thankyou for all your help. we've bin to icmeler about 9 times and although we've never stayed in the village always have a wander round there. gawd i am sooooooooooooooooooo ready for this holiday. just been on the ekinci palace website and it really does look fab! anyone know how he irish bar is doing this year, last time we were there it was wild!!!

Irish Bar is still wild and music being still played at 1am and the place was packed.

I'll give you the warning that I have given repeatedly on the forum and it is not too serious. If you are a light sleeper, either take ear plugs or a good modicum of your favourite tipple to help you sleep, as the early morning prayer call (someone will have a word for it) from the old mosque can be a shock to the system, especially if you arrive in the wee sma' hours and wake thinking that there's a party in your apartment

As most apartments, the Ekinci is clean and basic and until last year catered for mostly Scandinavians and you will probably find that a few still return. The choice of restaurants around the apartments, especially in the Old Village is very good and like others, I would recommend Captain Sinbad's for a good meal and chill out. I'm looking forward to meeting the new people in charge as it sounds as though it could be better than ever.

You will be arriving a day or so before we leave so if you fancy a blether, look for the whitest moustache around the bar/pool and we'll have a craic.

We were not disturbed by the mosque at all and did not find the apartment we stayed in clean either, sorry to disagree. I have been to Turkey 12 times and have never seen any laying dirt either near the apartment or in it. My son broke a cup (he is 4) so to ensure i had removed all the pieces from our apartment floor i used a baby wipe to clean the floor, the imprint of my hand was black!this was the same day the room had been 'cleaned'. Also, before we had even vacated our room one of the cleaners whilst we were in reception leaving suitcases, entered our apartment and removed cash from a glass in the kitchen area. The money was intended for the cleaners but her action was immoral! We did not pursue the matter as our taxi was imminent but i certainly did not like the fact that she helped herself, the money was intended to be shared between the other cleaners too. I had no gripes with any of the other staff they were brilliant. Was it horrendous, No it wasn't, it just was not what we have been used to regarding cleanliness in Turkey and the cleaner was out of order with a vengeance.

thanks weetooney, we are sooooo lucking forward to this holiday. shouldnt think the mosque will cause me too much worry, sharing a room with my mother s far more scarey she looks like stella on a bad night when she first wakes up! my mam and dad's mates have just come back from their 1st trip to icmeler and stayed in the ekinci and absolutley loved it so now i have no worries about it. yip we'll look for the whitest tash, i'm ded tall with tattoos and my mam is ded small with no tattoos so maybe we'll see you there, again thanks for your help and roll on 25th sept.

hiya jozzyd, sorry you didnt have a very good stay at the ekinci. hopefully you'll have many more memorable (for the right reasons) stays in icmeler. its a great place but unfortunatley not all of the hotels are everything they are cracked up to be. my mam aunty and me stayed in a certain hotel one year and within 48hrs of arriving in newcastle my mother was admitted to hospital with legionaires! luckily she hasnt let her experience put her off icmeler.

You have more chance of being woken by the music from the ekinci bar

Have to agree with Jozzyd, apartment was filthy - enjoyed the holiday but definately wouldn't go back to the Ekinci Towers.

We have just returned from two weeks at Ekinci Palace and would like to make the following observations,
The apartments are in an excellent position with easy access to centre and the beach both within comfortable walking distance
The actual apartments are spacious and well fitted the ,site is well maintained and the staff unobtrusive.The onsite restaurant serves good food with excellent service.
The only complaint about the Ekinci Palace would be the standard of cleaning in the block that we stayed in (Block E Apt.508) the cleaning amounted to emptying the two bins daily,and changing the towels and bed linen every three days.The floors of the apartment and balcony were never swept or mopped in the two weeks,on our first day I had to remove two nail clippings from my feet picked up from the lounge floor where a previous occupant had been cutting their nails!! We spoke to people located in other blocks who had no problems.
It is a shame that such a basic requirement detracts from such an otherwise ideal place to stay
Perhaps if the management watches this site the message may get through.
The foregoing did not detract from the fact that Icmeler is difficult to beat for a great holiday
