yeah if you get your english phone unlocked they can be used the first you do it it should be ok but after that they might lock the sim against your phone so the sim doesnt accept it only on the english phone hope you know what i mean but it should be ok xxxx
yeah you can buy a turkish phone you want but they are expensive over there for the most basic phone you will pay around 100TL my advice would be get your phone unlocked, buy a turkish sim card and see if it works if it does great if it doesnt buy a turkish phone xxxx
The phone has to be unlocked to all networks in England and then unlocked to all networks in turkey - the sim will work then but remember if it is inactive for more than 3 months the sim will be blocked.
Thats advice from my daughter who lived over there for a few months last year.
If your planning on keeping the English phone in Turkey then you will need to register it. You will need all the paperwork to says its yours. If you don't do this after a few weeks it will be blocked and you won't be able to use a Turkish sim or a English sim in it. I think you can do it in the Turkcell shops but don't take my word for it.
Sorry I think I am just being thick here, what do I need to do before I leave England? and then when I give it to my Turkish friend what do they need to do??, not sure I will bother it all seems a bit complicated, any other ideas??
It depends on how much you will require to use your mobile if it is only for an occasional text your UK mobile will do For long calls home telephone cards are available at supermarkets to use via the Turkish Telephone system and these are good value
