Hi all
Can anyone tell me the name of the red puree type thing you get with your bread and dips.
I think it has chilli onion and tomato in it. A name and recipe would be great as I have been having cravings for the stuff since I got home.
Cheers
Garry.

I think it's called ezme - we love it too. If you do a google search for it, you'll find plenty recipes - there seem to be endless variations on the theme! I thought the best idea might be to ask one of the restaurants how they make it - which is what I plan to do on our next visit.

Im pretty sure you are talking about ezme, this is a recipe.
Ingredients:
•3 medium tomatoes, peeled
•1/2 cucumber peeled
•1 green or red pepper
•1 small onion
•2 cloves garlic, crushed
•2 tespoon parsley finely chopped
•1 tablespoon red pepper pulp, or ground red pepper
•3 tablespoon lemon juice
•4 tablespoon olive oil
•3/4 teaspoon black pepper
•1/2 teaspoon parika
Preparation:
Remove seeds from tomatoes, cucumber, and green peppers.
Chop all vegetables into very fine small pieces. Use a sharp knife, or a food processor. If using a food processor, be sure to drain the liquid the veggies produce and discard.
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Serve immediately, or chill for 1-3 hours in the refrigerator. Chilling the salad will produce a more full flavor, bold, spicy salad because the sitting allows the spices to settle and become absorbed.

Jozzyd you should make it.... Soon.
I have also seen a few recipes with pomegranate syrup in it

I think it would make it sweeter.
Like you I have to ask ... where do you buy pomegranate syrup ??.
The longer you leave it the better it tastes
Tip ____ I added+ more tomatoe puree just to make it a wee bit thicker
Judge it for yourself + taste.
Just going to eat the leftovers now.

Some of the big supermarkets should have pomegranate syrup, but probably your best best would be some of the ethnic supermarkets, as it's used in a lot of middle eastern cookery.

Someone told me they had seen the syrup in Sainsburys - but you can definitely get it in ethnic supermarkets here. Buying it online is a good option though.

Thats the problem Erik
A simple home oven cant do the job. Even though the wife tells me Iam full of hot air most match days

I just cant get the oven hot enough,, Catch 22 I think.
Only 9 month to go July 2010.

most turkish ovens are flame heated to make the bread, ive tried and nearly done it by putting on a bbq with a lid, only size of bread roll but worked!
