Flying out of Glasgow

Postby JulieA » 30 Jul 2009 11:59

Hi There,
Well I have been looking at the website for over a year now and I have found it very useful for my visits to Icmeler and finally I have taken the plunge and joined all you icmeler lovers. We are flying out of Glasgow on the 14th of August for 2 weeks as there were no flights to Icmeler ex Belfast for this date. Rcvd my tickets from the travel agent (T***** C***) and though and behold the my sons name reads Master A instead of Master M. Spoke with T***** C**K and they have said that this should not be a problem. Made several calls to named agents and to cut a long story short apparently as I have signed the booking form at the time of booking that the mistake has terefore been mine. They have told me not to bother changing the ticket as it would cost me £40 and to chance going to Glasgow with the tickets and then if there is a problem to get it changed there. Apparently it would not be a problem flying out of Belfast but they said they are not so sure about Glasgow. Can anyone advise if they have flown to Turkey ex Glasgow with a mispelt name or incorrect initial on their tickets. Any advice would be very helpful. Hope to speak to u all again soon.

I've flew from Glasgow as a Mrs (I'm a Miss) and also as a Mr before (I'm female!!)

My name has also been spelled incorrectly on several occasions. I wouldn't worry about it, I've never had any problems. They don't seem to pay much attention to be honest. The main checks is checking if your passport is valid.

no probs, i know how you feel. I was dreading checking in the first time it happened to me. Forgot to mention that i was also flying with the airline in question on at least two of the occasions that it has happened, so hope that also puts your mind at rest.

I would be very surprised it they noticed. As i metioned before the main checks are your passport validity, oh and also whether they can charge you for your luggage being overweight!!so be aware!!

Aw thanks Tamii really appreciate your comments. Never flown out of Glasgow before usually just fly from Belfast so as u can guess not too familiar with the airport layout - but I am sure we will manage. Bought my little weighing thingy from Tesco as we were caught out last year at Dalaman, so hubby has warned me that this year we are not to be overweight.
