Boat trips and sea sickness

Hi everyone we`re hoping that someone can help us out with this query please.

My friend has in the past suffered from sea sickness but doesn`t want to miss out on trips. She was wondering if any other members have suffered from this and if so how were you on the ICR trip? She isn`t sure whether one type of boat would be better than another?

Also we were hoping to do the Dalyan mud baths trip but believe this also involves a boat journey? If so how long would we be travelling on it for? She is hoping that she might manage a shorter trip even if unable to join in for a whole day!!

Many thanks in advance

Amanda

Daughter and I both find that we feel seasick if we're upstairs on the sunbeds, but don't have any problems if we just sit downstairs. Suits me fine, as I quite enjoy the shade anyway. Don't know if that's any help to you...

There are very few waves to give you the motion or sea sickness, but if shes worried i strongly recommend buying a tablet called Sealegs, just take one an hour before you go and you be fine.

July/August you should not have any issues, the sea is so calm, September/October the sea picks up, just get your self on the front of the boat, with the wind blowing through your hair, make sure you keep an eye on a fixed point, whether it be the horizon or the shore and you should be OK.

Sea sickness is caused by the signals sent to your brain not being the same between your ears and eyes.

I fish a lot at sea and always found ginger biscuits help alot and prevent sea sickness, in May a new guy on the boat was suffering, half a pack of ginger nuts later he was right as rain and carried on fishing in a force 8 gale, the roughest seas I have ever fished in.

last summer, i eventually plucked up courage to go on a boat.....and chose a large boat....and didnt feel sick once.....

i noticed for the next 24 hours, after i got off, i still felt like i was on.....but didnt feel sick at all.....

hahaha Karen, know what you mean about still swaying - it goes on for a couple of days for me sometimes

Re sea sickness, one of our daughters suffers so we usually get tablets for her from the chemists while we're there and they really do the trick

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I`ll get her to stock up on the ginger nuts they sound a great option!!

KarenH I know what you mean I went on a boat trip last year and the sea was really choppy for the whole day, that night I couldn`t understand why I felt so unsteady....it definately wasn`t the alcohol!!
