Is it generally less expensive to eat towards the old town rather than heading towards the central restaurants.

This year I found that eating in the old village area was generally cheaper for food and drinks. As an example in a place in the Village I could get a bottle of water for 0.75 TL yet in a well known town returant this was 2 TL. I know its not a huge difference but if you are part of a large crowd and go to the same place this would add up over your hoilday

The quality of the food is just as good and the restaurants tend to be a bit quieter. Personally I think the standard of service tends to be that bit better as well although the standard of service in all restaurants is also very good

Meyzem and Ozzy restuarants were the best 2 restaurants we ate at this year. Chicken dishes were typically 13-16 TL steak dishes 20-25 TL. In some of the restaurants in the centre of town you couls add a few lira to these prices

yeah most of the restaurants in the old town are less expensive than the ones in the centre or on the canal as you would expect
but there is not that much of a difference

Depends too on whether some places have "special offer" deals on - sometimes you can even haggle a wee bit and get them to throw in some free drinks or something.

yeah especially if you stand with the guy outside the door sometimes they say that they will give you a free round of drinks
or free coffees
or free ice cream
things like that
