It's so frustrating isn't it. When i saw the title thread my heart jumped into my throat, i was thinking please god don't let it be ONUR air as we're flying with them on Saturday and i've already had enough problems with this holiday as it was originally booked with Freedom Direct.
I feel really sorry for the people who are being affected by holiday companies and airlines going bump. So far we're about £800 out of pocket on two holidays where we've been affected by companies going into administration and we're awaiting refunds from ATOL, for one of the holidays that we've lost we've been waiting for a refund since October last year!!

Bill i was affected by the XL group thing too and i am still awaiting payout from them. So far i'm due to be reimbursed about £800. I've been waiting for the XL one since September last year. We were told it would take 12 weeks, it's been 10 months and still counting

Saga and Viking are actuallyt totaly different airlines, SAGA is a Turkish company where as Viking is a Sweedish company. SAGA were just covering some of the Turkish roues for Viking.
So if if you are flying with Viking don't panic, they are actually pretty stable from what I know. As SAGA only take bookings though travel agents unless the travel agent also goes bust then they will have to find you an alternative.

Just checked on Holiday truths, apparently according to Dazbo the avaiation expert SAGA are still operating he has access to flight logs and there flight logs are still showing flights in and out of vairous airports up untill 22nd June, nothing after that but no news of them going bust as yet.

Sorry I said Travel Agent, I meant to say Tour operator as the airlines in question mainly use Tour Operators to sell there flights.

tony1947 posted this link which he checks daily on another thread - it lists firms who've gone under
http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... agetype=87
hope not too many folk are affected and that those who are don't end up out of pocket

This link does not list the airline in question though. But if this airline has gone bust then people booked on Viking flights shouldn't panic as they are not the same airlines. Also unless the tour operator they are booked there flight with goes bust they shouldnt be out of pocket at all.

I still can't find any info though saying they have definately gone bust though. It may be the reason there is no flight is that SAGA airlines have a very small fleet of only 6 rather oldish aircraft so it coulld be possible te flight was cancelled and the tour operator is offering them another flight as the next available date within reasonable distance to there original airport.

Lets hope. My main reasin for posting was to reassure the people who are panicing that they are booked with Viking to reasure them that Viking and SAGA are 2 totally different companies from different countries.

You can now insure yourself against supplier failure where you will be paid out to purchase new flights, accomodation etc. The cost is £4 per trip and can be found at the following website:-
http://www.supplierfailurecover.com/
I've never used them but it seems to be a good idea.
You cannot obtain cover for the following companies due to the fact they are reporting financial difficulties.
Lab Airlines (Lloyd Aereo Boliviano)
Olympic Airlines
Alitalia
Frontier Airlines
Sky Europe
Advantage Rent A Car
Nordic Airways
Air Comet
Cape Verde Airlines
Air Senegal
Lot Polish Airlines
Oz Jet

Looks well worth it. I think this would boost independant travel rather than going package.
