Grand Aquarium Apartments and teenagers in Icmeler

Postby Mandyb » 23 Jun 2009 07:45

Hi Everyone, not sure if I'm using the forum correctly but hopefully will get a few replies!! Just wondered if anyone has ever stayed at the Grand Aquarium apartments? We are staying there 4th to 18th July with four teenagers aged 17,15,14 and 14. Would love any info on Icmeler in general and anywhere that's good for teenagers. Also having never been to Icmeler before, an idea of costs over there at the moment would be great? Really looking forward to it and just counting down the days now!!

I'm sure you'll all have a great time and end up loving Icmeler as much as the rest of us on here, Mandy! As for your teenagers, they'll find plenty to do - pop into the ICR office and have a chat to Donna about the various excursions - the jeep or quad safaris would probably suit them down to the ground, and the boat trips are always a good way to spend a day out.
There's also a waterpark in Marmaris if they're into that sort of thing, while many of the bars have pool tables, internet access etc, and there are the two nightclubs - Pleasure and Eastenders - if they (and you!) fancy a bit of clubbing!

Ive stayed at the G.A 5 times if the memory serves me right
maybe 6? haha
great apartments but the last few times i went they became i bit more pushy with the hairdressers
the water slide ran twice a day at around half 11 and half 2
kebabs byt the poolside on saturday and thursday i think
theres a little shop there aswell with all the basics youll need
f&b over the road tho is much easier and is open 24/7,usually also get a good exchange rate there
lovely guy who works there and always recognises us when we pop up on the first day for some things
there they have the cashless system where you pay a small deposit at first then put your cash onto the watch which is water proof then use it to pay for food and drinks at the apartments or at club aquarium
think of it as basically a waterproof wearable debit card
akif the barber is a nice guy and organises the football games which take place about 5 minutes walk fromt he apartments on a night with the bar staff and people staying at the apartments which is always a laugh
anway thats my 2 cents, enjoy and have a great stay :)

Grand Aquarium is good for teenagers, they have an entertainments team who will play water polo with them, also they do darts competitions, and pool tournaments aswell as other games. Plenty of bars in Icmeler with other things for teenagers like playstations, internet, pool tables. Also Marmaris is only a 20 minute Dolmus ride away for waterparks.

Thats what put us off going back after our second time, they were becoming pushy. I know an english woman that used to work in the Turkish Bath there, she is now managing the chip shop opposite Tansas. She said the other businesses there put in a complaint about her because they didn't like how she could get customers without sounding to pushy and they claim she was stealing all there customers, so the owner banned her from going back to the apartments even though the owner of Turkish Bath wanted her to work there again. Maybe they could of took lessons from her n how to not hassle guests.

i stayed next to there last year and are this year at edan gardens and was completely different with no hassle or anything
the cleanliness has also dropped through the years
the first year iw ent i was amazed how even the smallest wrapper was picked up within seconds of been seen now the rooms arent even cleaned properly which is a real let down as the architecture of the whole place would allow it to be a perfect out of town place to stay
also in the last few years where we stayed there the night manager became very pushy that we stayed there for meals on a night and would often ask people leaving the apts after 7 where they were going and why werent they staying at the apts to eat
this year the only reason for me to visit the G.A will be to use the gym as it may sound odd but at 12 in the afternoon
been in a nice cool, marble, air conditioned room is bliss when its followed by a sauna :)

I agree the architecture of the place is lovely, but got sick of lying there with you eyes closed then opening them and haveing someone stood over you asking if you want a hair cut, shave, turkish bath, jewelery.

akif's not at grand aquarium this year: he's working at elif hotel near the beach but he's just got married yesterday so doubt he'll be about for the next week or so.
first time i went to icmeler when i was 16 stayed at the grand aquarium and couldn't complain. try the jeep safari and the white water rafting to keep your kids entertained. and the bars and clubs aren't too far 10 min walk if i remember rightly.
i'm going 3rd july and know what you mean about counting down the days...think my countdown started at about 170 days :P
hope you have a good holiday but i don't doubt for a second that you won't like icmeler :D
