Hi

We are off to icmeler in sept (stopping at the rhodes apartments)

I know the beach in icmeler isnt the most sandiest beach in the world, so i was wondering if there are any that are quite close?
we went to turunc last year during the day for a visit, and that was also shingly
Dont mind getting a short taxi ride to somewhere nice, maybe somewhere the locals use?
I know last year, one of the turkish barmen said he drives out to a beach, and i remember him saying it was beautiful, nice sand etc but he didnt say where it was

Thanks

i know of some beaches but they are a long way away and it wouldnt be worth travelling that kind of distance just to get a sandy beach

The beach is ok in icmeler, but i found it a bit rocky and pebbly in the sea, and not really suitable for young children just to wander in without the fear of them tripping on a rock or something

Hi Nik, Akyaka is lovely and definitely a place where the Turkish people go. The sea is very shallow for quite a long way out, and it is sandy all the way, so perfect for children. You can get the dolmus from Marmaris I think about 40 mins or so but the taxi is probably a better bet then u can take inflatables!

Cleopatra beach is another option but not so child friendly as it is a conservation area and there are no towels or sandals allowed on the beach, quite uncomfortable on a hot day, but a nice place to visit depending on the age of the children. There is a 30 min boat ride to get there which is a bonus!

Akyaka is a lovely beach. We went there last year. The water stays shallow a long way out, so its good for kids.
The sand is lovely and soft. :)

Will deffinately be going back again.

The beach in front of Okimos resturant is nice sand once you get into the sea and the water is only waist deep right out to the buoys and the little fish dont nibble at your legs like they do on other parts of the beach.
