Icmeler - July 2010

:D
Dear All
I wonder if you could help me - I have a dilema...
We have been to Marmaris several times but next year we are hoping to go to Icmeler and book the hotel and flight independently as we want to go for 11 nights and to do it this way (instead of through a travel agent in UK) there is a substantial saving.
My dilema is....is it safe to book accommodation through online agents such as ICR Travel? Also is it OK to fly with airlines I have never heard of like Onur Air? and has anyone used the transfers you can book with hour independent hotel and do they drop you off at the hotel you booked and not in the middle of Icmeler?
Sorry if I sound "mad" - I have just never booked flights, hotel and transfers on my own - its always been through Thomsons or Thomas Cook.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers
Tina

Just off the back of what tired mum has just said, the firm has announced that it is fine and that they are separate from the firm who are in trouble and they are continuing to trade.

Have used ICR now a few times and each time no problems at all even with transfers to another resort and back to Icmeler. Would definately recommend them.

Dear Tina

Have used ICR over the last five years with no problem, unlike the tour operators they will tailor make your holiday to suit your exact requirements travel for as long as you wish on the day you want.Fantastic range of hotel or apartments, and great private transfer to the resort. The other thing is that when you ring them you get to speak to either Sharon or John who will bend over backwards to help you, Supported by great team in resort. Can only recommend you, Book...Sit back....Look forward...Enjoy Paradise. Happy Holidays

hi just about to book ourselves, never ever did it this way before either, but have just spoken to a good friend who says he has always used this firm, has even met the owner who is a liverpool guy called John Toohey. Think that spelling is ok. So on the back of what he has told me we have decided to try it, think the answer is to pay by credit card, not exactly sure if paypal gives the same guarantee of money being refunded if it all goes horribly wrong. But big savings this way if it all goes the way it should. Will let you know how we get on, we are going to book for around 2nd august. So will post prob around 17th. graham

great advice to always book by credit card Graham - best to be on the safe side I reckon

Tina - I'd feel FAR safer booking with ICR than the national package/tour op companies - after all, how many "big names" have gone under in recent times?
with ICR, it's as much about caring and taking real care of people than running a multi million pound company - and with a personal touch like that, I'd feel far safer than trusting my hard earned ££££s to the huge firms
hope this gets across what I'm trying to say?

You will not go wrong with ICR
Also you will run in to the whole staff of ICR when in Icmeler, Rami, John, Sharon, Donna and sometimes even Sharon ( John's wife who runs the Liverpool office) can be found most nights in Vince's and at lunch time in Bonjour, these guys make the big travel companies look like amatures, you will be picked up at Dalaman and taken to your hotel and helped with your luggage, also if you do have a problem, but you will not, they are on hand at the resort in their office.
We have booked with ICR for Sept 2009, and have known John, Sharon (his wife) and Rami for a number of years, we met Sharon and Donna (Icmeler reps) for the first time in May, both lovely ladies.
So you can book with them and relax, one other point is that usually you only pay a deposit (I think for the accom and transfer, not sure about flights) and you pay the balance when you get there.
Hope you have a great holiday, and like us you will return to Icmeler for years to come.
Ref Onur Air, have flown with them before, and going with them again in Sept, had no problem last time.
