So sick!! Aegean Flights

Postby dotty » 29 May 2009 21:28

I have in my possession etickets for 11th June from Glasgow 07.35 flight, returning to Edinburgh on 25th June at 20.10, which is exactly what we want. Now I have just had an email saying my flight is now 20.30 from Glasgow on 11th June, returning to GLASGOW on 25th June at 06.35am. I am absolutely gutted, I have an airport hotel paid for at Glasgow for 10th June (non refundable). The most annoying fact is no email explaining why, just an invoice and new etickets sent today. Now when I do a search for our 11th June flight it isn't there even although the same flight went out yesterday. What is happening with this company? Can't wait to get on the phone in the morning but at this point in time I'm actually thinking of forgetting the whole thing as have been mucked about so much, flight has been changed 3 or 4 times and this is just the last straw.

Seems like the are messing people about. Changes earlier in the year are understandable as airports sometimes juggle slots around, but as you are going 11th June the airport will have everything planned out and wouldnt make changes at such a late stage. Sounds to me they have had a two or more flights half full or less so have decided to cram everyone onto one. Give them a call and and give them what for, it's not on the way they are treating people.

We had our flights changed twice, third letter we received from Aegean flights was to cancel our flights back into Liverpool altogether the alternative was to lose two days of our holiday and fly back to Manchester, our cars would be at Liverpool airport, no help from them as getting us back to Liverpool any way we lost the money for car parking and rebooked flights with another company going a day later.Sorry you have had problems as well Dotty hope you get it sorted.

Hi Dotty
Hope this helps,
I dont know how to bring a "quote" up from a previous post so have resurected our old post.
We had a simular problem last year with them, and as my post shows, if you hit them back you might get a result, as we did.
Hope you can sort it, they treat us like cattle.

Hi Dotty,

So infuriating!!! I also changed my flights for exactly the same reason and have now booked train tickets and hotel for 15th July...Let me know the outcome. If this is the case and we get changed to the nighttime flight again i will be complaining also.

Just spoke to Aegean, the 07.35 flight from Glasgow has been withdrawn due to lack of passengers and those booked on that flight are now being offered the flight at 20.30. I have re-arranged and am now going from Edinburgh which is nearer to me anyway, its still a night flight but the better of the 2 options. I'm to receive £60 compensation which will cover what I'm losing for the airport hotel. Told them I'm not happy at all about it, and that they are holding all the aces if I want my holiday, its like being held to ransom. So I'm just waiting now for an amended invoice and etickets. Its once I thought about it at least I'm still going, there are many other people who aren't.

Thanks all for your support, its really appreciated and nice to know that people on here care.

Hi Dotty
Glad you are ok, it sounds a bit sus to me, as you would think a flight at that time should be well booked.
Might I suggest that you let them know that you will be monitoring the flights for that morning, and that if that flight number that you were origanaly booked on takes off at that time, then you will pursue the matter etc, and see what they say!!
That is what I told them in our case, and the flight suddenly re-appeared, although I realise each case is differant and they might be telling the truth.
It will be interesting to find out if the flight does take off though.
Curiosity and me being nosey, if you dont mind, what was the flight number, then we can all watch this flight with interest.., if indeed it is still on the tarmac.
Regards & Enjoy

The flight number was OHY3618 leaving Glasgow at 07.35 on 11th June, and yes I will be very interested to see if it re-appears. I'm about to phone Aegean anyway as they have asked that I phone to give my card details so they can give me my £60 compensation, so I will say to them when I phone. I've now had the new invoice and etickets sent to me and all seems to be in order. Maybe I will be able to sleep tonight now...

Thanks again for your concern and advice

They do that a lot, but its extremely wrong so close to your hols, 6 months earlier fine, you can make arrangements.

Our flights kept chaning with them last year but not nearly 12 hours difference either way.

Lack of passengers makes you wonder doesnt it, perhaps if they reduced some of those tickets to fill the plane they would get a surge of interest, I bet their charging about £400 now each. Which you wouldn't want to pay for the bargain bucket service they provide,.

Am fully expecting ours to change this year, i think we're with Monarch, but the operator we booked with also uses Onur.

Hope it works out for you

Seems to me like they cancel the flights that are good day time ones and retain the ones that are late night/early morning. But...perhaps the day time flights were never going to be available anyway.....certainly makes me wonder.

Dotty

I was on the flight OHY3618 from Glasgow although I left 2 weeks ago 17 May and the flight was full.

I was also unable to find this flight on the BAA Glasgow website but it does exist, with Onur air

Davie, I've was on your British Midland flight last year, wonder why its been changed, have they given you any reason? I'd be phoning to ask why. Maybe they've taken the Thurs morning flight which was OHY3618 and its now on Sat, I don't know, but there's definitely something amiss here.

Hi Dotty I went on it last year as well, I got the letter a few weeks ago saying it was cancelled on the 6th/13th/20th June and i would be transferred to the Onur Air flight, leaving at the same time and I would get a £3 refund as they don't supply a meal. My Daughter also booked the same flight and she's been transferred as well
