Flew with them last year but from Glasgow, there was plenty of legroom, but like any budget airline there is no inflight entertainment, as for the food it was one of the best meals i've had on any flight

I agree Davie, we also flew with them last year from Glasgow, food excellent and we didn't even pay for a meal!

Hi there

Just back on Sunday morning with British Midland and have to say was pleasantly surprised leg room was sufficient, we even had a meal on the plane (wasn't expecting one as booked through Aegean flights), we were 10 mins late leaving Glasgow and about an hour late leaving Dalaman but the flights themselves were fine.

BMI aren't actually a budget airline they leave that to the BMIbaby arm of the business.

BMI's main business is long haul scheduled flights now adays, however in these tough times they are chartering their fleet and crews out to certain tour operators.

What's anyone's thoughts generally on BMI and their punctuality? This is a flight company which comes up a lot on ICR booking searches (And other flight booking companies), but a google search throws up some worrying reviews.

Wouldn't think Dalaman is a good place to be delayed for any length of time, and imagine - horror of horrors - if it was a few hours or a day!

If they really are a company who don't care about getting off on time, I think other companies are the ones to stick to, but as I said, I'm only going by reviews - and these review EVERY route by BMI, including BMIbaby which gets right bad press.

i thought British Midland were supposed to be a good respectable company
its not good though if they dont worry about getting off on time as no one wants delays especially at the end of your holiday when everyone just wants home
with the prices at Dalaman no one wants to be delayed there cause having to fork out for a meal would cost a lot of money

I flew with BMI in May and had no problems we were delayed on the way home but that is because another flight which was due to to after the Glasgow flight was ready before ours and off it went and we had to wait, leaving Glasgow was ok think it was about 30mins delayed. Would use them again as the seats etc were ok.

It is not actually the airline, but the airport from which they are departing, that causes the delays, and dictates the slots, but I think British Midland are offering a good deal with free meals, better leg room, and also 20kgs, without the hassle of having to book and pay for these services separately.

I've flown with British Midland several times (not only to Turkey) and have never had any problems. The legroom has also been better than with some other airlines as well. I'd have no hesitation booking with them again.

cool sounds good
i would fly with them cause they seem a good airline
some of the leg room on the other companies is so bad that you can hardly move your legs

I wonder how long BMI will run flights to say Dalaman (As this is where probably most of us on here are most interested - Turkey forum and all that), since at the moment, it's their fleet and crew they are chartering out for that route amongst others, and as Lufthansa have agreed a purchase price, subject to approval from the UK government.

Be a pity if these flights go really.

I assume they will keep doing them as long as they are profitable.

yeah well with the amount of people that are going to turkey this year because of them not being in the euro
so hopefully the flights with BMI will be running for a long time
