Changing Money in resort

Postby pyoungman » 12 May 2009 18:18

With the pound now much less attractive due to the lower value can anyone tell me if shops etc in resort are still happy to change money and is the rate better than the banks in uk. Thanks.

Reading the reviews of the people who have just come back, they say they were getting approx 2.3 in resort, so its better than what Erik is posting on his lira watch.

My friend has just text me she arrived in Icmeler yesterday. She got 2.30 to the pound today. I am thinking it may go up a litle more if the current bank rate stays at what it is today may get 2.32 but if it goes up will be even better.

im sure the local shops will still be happy to change your money as they just wait until they get a good rate so they can change it and get more for their money
hope the exchange rate goes up before we go in july as its not been good for a while

The rate Steve mentioned is about the same as this time last year, I always change my money in supermarket, I'm happy with 2.3ish. points here and there don't amount to much when you've had a couple of effes! :D

I'd be happy if it stays at 2.30. As you said Trish we only got that some days in June last year for first couple of days it was 2.4 but it went down to about 2.30 second week.

Changin money

Postby configure34 » 13 May 2009 20:35

As we sit ere in Romeo and juliets bar!!! The exchange rate in the markets is better than anywhere els, even the bars r less, we have bought English money with us and r gettin an exchange rate of 2.30 which is better than in the uk at the moment so I wouldn't worry about changin money ova ere, we r just so glad we bought english money and not got ripped off with travellers cheques, hope this helps.

not got ripped off with travellers cheques

I've always got the same rate for £ travellers cheques as english cash, I also don't pay comission here buying them though my bank. So no rip off as far as I am concerned.

I agree with dksbbs we took cash and travellers cheques last year and got exactly the same rate for both, travellers cheques surely must be worth more to them as they just wait until the rate goes up and change them for more.
