Post Office offering special rates for Turkish Lira

In the newspaper today there was an advert saying that the Post Office are offering special rates online and in branch for Turkish Lira.
I've been onto the website and the rate today is 2.26 but there's no further mention of the special rate.
Has anyone else looked into this? Just curious about how special their "special" rate is...

I work next to a post office and check the rate every day the rate was 2.23 in the branch today. So probably just a ploy to get people havent been to Turkey to think they are getting a special rate and buy from them. There is no where in this country that can match the rates of the local supermarkets and restraunts in my opinion. I wish I'd bought mine couple of month back when it was 2.42 but I thought it was on a climb and would wait but 2 days later it dropped again, so annoying.

As with all exchange, someone will be making a profit, the "post office are one of the "worst" in regard to you getting value for your pound.
Apart from the odd deal with your own bank etc, the best value is in resort, as these local buisness people track the bank rate daily and can give you the value at the time. and make their profit by holding onto the pound and exchangeing when there is a quick peak in the ex-rate, say in mid-winter or whenever.
The only way you can hopefully make a profit is as Steve says try to antisipate the ex-rate and hopefully exchange when it is higher than when you are going on holiday.:- pot luck- . But with the PO, TC etc they will always be lower than in Icmeler.

So my way of looking at it is "Dont exchange in Uk !!!

Oh goodness, I never exchange in the UK anymore. Just thought I'd see if they actually had a special offer. It appears that their "special" rate is exactly the same as their normal rates!!

I think you will find the special rate is for £2000 plus as we were offered this last year, it worked out you got a whopping 40 lira extra...wow!

The saying "Con-Merchants" spring to mind here.
They are obviously looking for the first timers, who no disrespect, are not in the know like us regulars.thats why I was a bit long winded in my reply, it p---- me off when companies try it on like that.
Will we see a "Special Rate" off them
Just hope we can be helpfull for others.
