Home from Icmeler... :(

Postby jools » 29 Apr 2009 20:08

Hey all,

I'm back from Icmeler now and thoroughly miserable about it! The holiday blues have kicked in and no amount of sunshine here can stop my big strop and pouty lip  I'm now counting down 7 weeks until I'm out of England for a whole summer!

Firstly, I want to apologise for not meeting anyone in dreamboys last week. The reason is explained below.

This past week has been a very new and interesting experience as far as holidays and Icmeler go! I left England with what I thought was the remnants of a hangover, but turned out to be a tummy bug which lasted 3 days (the reason I wasn't in dreamboys to see y'all on the first night!)...topping that off, I caught a cold whilst my immune system was weak, which also triggered off my asthma. (the violins are playing right now!!) That meant fewer late nights, as my poor body was battered enough...although I gave it a bloody good go as the week progressed!! Wasn't about to leave without a decent night of shameful indulgence and utter drunkeness.

The good news is that Icmeler is as beautiful as ever and everything is really starting to take shape. Over the week we watched several bars being fixed up ready to open very soon. We watched the beach being re-sanded (I don't know what else to call it!) whilst we enjoyed a somewhat windy lunch on the jetty at Liberty.

Also, we have now signed and sealed our contract and are the proud tenants of a brand spanking new duplex apartment in Icmeler, fully furnished with a big pool :D the house is near the new high school being built and not all of them have finished being built yet, so as we understand it there will only be about 4 of the properties occupied, so no fighting for pool loungers - hurrah!!

I have a bunch of photos, but didn't get to explore as much as I'd have liked to in good health! I will get them all uploaded and posted asap.

Hope all has been well here! xx

Nice to hear.

Any information as to how the prices are for food and drink? Have they went up/down?

The prices seem about the same to me. I don't usually eat a great deal of big meals when I'm in Turkey, but from what I was eating there was no price difference to last year.
Drinks always tend to vary from bar to bar, but I have to say I didn't notice too many BOGOF's on cocktails/spirits etc, so I can only imagine (and hope!) that these will pop up more when more bars are open. Efes was between 2.50 and 4ytl.
I never usually drink soft drinks, but with my tummy bug I had a few and they seemed expensive to me, paid 4ytl for a diet coke one evening in Elvis! I don't know whether this is normal or not??

Have added my photos to facebook as it's so much quicker and easier! If you're on there, add me for a gander: [email protected]

The weather was fine for us. When it was sunny it was gorgeous, when there were a few clouds in the sky it was a bit nippy but not cold. The evenings were chilly, so would recommend a cardigan or two. We had rain once, but that was at 4am when we were wandering home, so we stopped to see a friend and have a cuppa!

Fingers crossed the weather stays fine for you all next week xx
