In S/C apartments you get an electric 2 ring hob, on previous years to do toast we have taken a metal coat hanger, bent it over at each end to make it sit above one of the rings, voila you have a very cheap toaster :o :o

Perhaps not for the faint hearted :D

Hi All
Serious thought here, in regard to the cheap toasters.
What ever you do, dont turn your back on them whilst the bread is in them. As with most cheaper things you only get what you pay for, and they will be made of the crapiest materials going.
We had a cheap one, that certainly wasnt a problem, and indeed did us good service. But I like the thick uncut bread that I cut myself and force into the toaster, due to the thickness of the slice.
Yes!, you can call me a dumbo  for this, but I just turned away for half a min and when I looked back the bread had caught light and was flaming up, and within seconds the cheap plastic edge of the toaster was going up like a magneesium flare.
I unpluged it and my wife threw a wet tea-towel over it which luckily put it out,
The most frightning thing here, was how quick the plastic body of the toaster caught alight, and was actualy flareing like a firework, another few seconds and the kitchen cabinets above would have been hit like a blow torch.
So as I say, no problem with the cheaper ones, but dont take your eyes off them, It bloody well made me think again about what the outcome could have been, with a few more seconds of "not watching".
And yes I did get a "B------ing" off the better half , and had to go and get a stainless steel one, which I had to pay for, !! :?

Some apartments do come equipped with 2 slice toasters, might be worth checking before you cart one over in your suitcase :?

Good ides about the coat hanger might try that,i was thinking of taking one in our suitcase as well but am worried on the impact of the cases being thrown around on the elements, might cause the whole electric system fuse,we were thinking of seeing if we could buy a cheap one in marmaris while we are there and leave it to another family afterwards 8)

I tend to go into Marmaris and but one from Tansas 1st one was about £5 the following year it was about £7. We just left them in the apartment when we left.
