Quiet Restaurants & Entertainment

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are new to this forum and I guess these questions may have been asked before, but as new members are joining all the time maybe some new ideas can be forwarded to my queries.

My wife and I will be visiting Icmeler this September after being in Turunc last June. We absolutely loved Turunc because of the quiet traditional restaurants that we found and as we are not "spring chickens" we would be grateful of recommendations to the quieter more traditional restaurants available in Icmeler. I have seen the Winehouse Restaurant website and this seems to be perfect for us. We also like true traditional turkish restaurants if anyone knows what we mean, Turkish writing above the door and all that.

Recommendations on evening entertainment would also be useful as I do not see us visiting bars/restaurants with dancing waiters etc etc.

Don't get me wrong we like a good time but would prefer somewhere where a band or duo playing 60's or 70's music are available.

Thanks for anyone who is kind enough to reply.

I would highly recommend the Kerem restaurant on the canal for authentic Turkish cuisine. The food is absolutely gorgeous and the family who own the place are as friendly and welcoming as you could hope to meet.

Winehouse is a really lovely restaurant. We lived next to it when we were in Icmeler last September and we have also eaten there earlier years. The owners are really friendly and we cannot wait to get back there again.

Do visit Kerem also, really fantastic Turkish food.

September is a really good time to visit Turkey. Not too hot but warm enough and not to crowded.

Also Ozzy's half way up into the old village, The Wayside near the Tansas and The Lighthouse in the center for excellent food and chilled atmosphere. Oh and of course Cafe Del Mar for a quiet drink and spectacular views over Icmeler bay.

I agree with the above, but last year I went to the Nazar Cafe, that was beautiful and typically Turkish. All set out with ponds and enclosed seating areas, also open air seating, but all typically turkish. Not a British meal on the menu. I will definitely return.

If you look at the photo album on my holiday pics, there are a couple of pics.

We love the Selam Restaurant. Authentic Turkish cuisine (if you want), also quite quiet and away from the hustle-bustle.

Turgay & Sibel Haner are the owners, say Hi from Richard & Lesley!

I also agree the wayside is good for a quiet meal. Just nice background music and a nice mix of different foods on the menu from traditional turkish to home made pasta.
