I would imagine it would be cheap enough to buy a little kettle there, or take a travel kettle with you.

Re electric and plugs

Read on HT handy hints to take extension lead which I did last year.
4 plug one. It was great had hairdryer, straightners, camera battery charger all on one. Great if you only have one electric point in your room.

we always take an extension lead like this and it's soooo needed for the straighteners, hairdryer etc etc
another tip is to check that it works BEFORE you go
we forgot last year, and arrived in Icmeler only to find that we'd taken the broken one!

RE the kettle,toasters etc,
If you venture into Marmaris, and the big Tansas or Migros, or indeed down the back streets you should be able to pick them up rather cheap, and I was wondering if when you have finished your holiday could they be a worthwhile donation to ICR to be used as they think fit. i.e possably the orphanage or indeed the next holidaymaker with the same problem.
Sorry Admin if in 12 months time you end up like a secondhand junkshop

great idea Peli
would it be feasible for them to be rented out/sold with proceeds to the Orphanage, a kettle and toaster library?!?!?
thinking about it though, not sure if that'd work re liablility for having them tested

We found a small local electrical shop behind the Florida somewhere he sells allsorts of electrical stuff really cheap we got an adaptor for 2 lira.It pays to just wander around those little streets behind the shops and restraunts we found a tailor, cleaner another chemist florist and allsorts. And they were cheaper than the ones on the main street.

Hi Maryb
If you like rooting about in this type of shop, you should try,"getting lost",in the local streets of Marmaris, directly behind the bazzar, or directly in front and accross the road from the main tansas, you will find anything you could possably want, and cheap.
You could spend days down there, there is every kind of shop going, from the good quality furniture, light fitings, clothes, etc down to the what used to be called the "million shops" the equivalant of our "pound shops" I guarantee you will buy something that you dont realy want
These are the places which are cheap, even though some of the stuff is c--p, but its a great way to spend an afternoon dodgeing from one aircon unit to another, and nipping into a wateringhole every now an then.
