Ercanhan Hotel

Postby Barbara » 12 Jan 2009 13:56

Hi

I have been to Icmeler many times, but have never stayed at the above hotel. I'm booked to go this August and have read some terrible reviews on Holidays Truths, but am inclined to take them with a pinch of salt.

However, some reviews said that you are not allowed to take water into your room ( can't believe that ), there are no electricity points, the pools get no sun what so ever, the staff are miserable etc....

Could anyone who has been there please confirm my suspicions that these comments have been exaggerated ??

Also, how far away is it from the Beach ? My usual haunt is the Efes Inn, where I will be in June..

Many thanks

Also - is there a kettle in the room ? I guess not by the some of the reviews I've read but thought I'd ask

Hi Barbara

There is'nt a kettle in the room.
Hotel is just around the corner from the Diva Hotel near the top of the canal.

I stayed there but didnt like it as my room stank of raw sewage it was really bad unfortunately they didnt have another room to put us into so we left after putting up with it for 3 days. If it hadnt been for that then we would have stayed put.

Oh, that doesn;t sound good.

Did they find you the alternative accomodation or did you have to find and pay for it yourself ?

Was it just your room, or is it a general probelm with the whole hotel ?

How long ago did you stay there ?

Many thanks for getting back to me

My son and his girlfriend stayed there last August and enjoyed it fine. In fact when me and my OH were there in June we went and checked the hotel out for them and we ended up going back a few times just for a drink at the pool bar. Staff were very friendly, good snack meals, toilets clean and yes the pool did get the sun. There are two pools, one at the front and one at the back of the hotel, both are quite small but for the size of the hotel there definitely wouldn't be a problem getting sunbeds.

Personally I liked it and although basic I thought it was a nice wee complex. Hope this helps you decide.

Hi Barbara

We moved round the corner to the Devamli and paid for it ourselves.

As I said before if our room hadn’t stunk we would not have moved. Unfortunately for us there wasn’t another room available. The hotel did pour down bleach down the drains but that just made things worse as we had the fumes from that as well.

We had been shown around the hotel before we book it and thought it looked fine. It might have been a one off problem they had, but it did spoil the start of our holiday.

On a positive note the hotel is in a good location and we had no problem taking water into our room.

Thanks guys for your replies.

That has put my mind at rest and I stayed at the Devamli last year so I sort of know where it is now too.

Roll on June and August

Friends of ours have stayed there, but would not go back there again. People were even buying their own jars of coffee to use at the breakfast table. Would not recommend

I'm sure you'll be fine there Barbara, why not go and visit when you're there in June. We'll certainly be going round there when we're there from 11-25 June purely because we enjoyed the atmosphere at the pool bar, and the staff were really friendly

Yes, my friends and I are in Icmeler 19-26 June so we are going to pop up there and have a look, have a drink at their bar etc...

I'm sure it will be fine - and as you say, it is just a base really as we will be out all day, and enjoying the bars / entertainment in the evenings.

22 weeks on Friday and counting.........

I'd check the dates on the reviews you have read because I think the hotel was refurbished in 2007. Looking at the photos on ICR it looks to be a nice little hotel.

We have stayed there twice and both times the rooms have been OK.
The only problem we had was the roadsweeper seemed to come every morning at 6am and there seemed to be a dogs choir around teatime! The noise of them barking to each other was irritating.
I hope its stopped this year because we have booked fortnight in September there as we got a very good deal!
As said before its in a very good location.

Hi Barbara, we've stayed at Ercanhan four times now and have just booked again for Sept for a fifth time! Breakfast not up to much. Been refurbished in last 12 months and is very nice. Staff great, good laugh. I can't believe some of the horror stories on some of these review sites, don't know what some people expect! :? Hope this helps?

Hi Barbara

It was year past Sept. I think everything will be fine when you go, as I said we would not have left hotel if they could have changed our room.

I wish I had'nt said anything now, but I was only pointing out my own experience of the hotel.

Have a nice holiday

Lynn M you were only telling us why you moved. I would have moved too. All the accommodation we have stayed in has been acceptable but i could not stay in a room which stunk either :(
