Just want to say hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I found this site whilst looking for info on transfers from the airport. Its a great site and now i know where to book our excursions transfers etc.

We're travelling to Icemeler on the 18th June myself, hubby teenage daughter and my parents. We have been to Turkey before, Side and for loadsa diffrent reasons had a so-so time. However, I'v done my research this time around and feel very confident that we'll have a GREAT time. We're staying at the Devamli Hotel on a half board basis. I'v read the reveiws on this hotel on lots of sites and they all sound positive. The only downside so far is the small pool area but there looks to be a smashing sun deck just above the pool so that should keep my daughter happy. I was wondering about the beach near this hotel if its any good, clean etc. I love the beach and it would be such a bonus if it was nice due to the pool being so small. Any info at all would be gladly appriciated.

Thanks

Karen

Yes the pool is small, but you are only 2 or 3 minutes from the beach. The beach is a bit gritty in places but otherwise fine. You will find a place which will suit you.
The Devlami is also well positioned for the canal and central for all other places.

Hi Karen,
Happy New Year to you too! - I've never been to the Devamli but it is very central and not far from the beach. The beach is excellent, mainly small stones/shail, not sand and is very clean. Sunbeds cost about 2 - 2.5 lira each but if you use the ones belonging to the cafe bars/restaurants and buy your food and drinks the beds are free.

We used the beach nearly everyday and used the beds belonging to Lineker's bar. Good food and drink, cheap and delivered to your beds by the lads working the beach, who always have time for a laugh and joke on.

You'll have a great time in icmeler, we're going again in august for the 3rd year in a row - extended family, party of 10.

Cheers John.

Thanks for the quick reply and great tip re the use of the bars beds. Is there a lot going on n the canal area? The images of it i'v seen on the web look really nice. I'm just off to my mums now to get our steak pie and show her the hotels website and some pics of Icmeler. Have a great day everyone

Hi Welcome to the forum

dont worry about the size of the pool as you can always go to another hotel or apartment and use there if you buy drinks or food
You will find that most of the centre pools are on the small side but if you walk upto towards the old village (about 5-10 min from where your staying)you will find the pools a lot bigger I can reccomend the Rhodes apartments Tango and Mama will make you welcome have a great time and am sure like the rest of us you will become hooked on Icmeler

Hi Karen,
The canal area is a must, good choice of restaurants, excellent food and after about 10 o'clock ish the waiters put on shows. Further along nearer the beach there is a small market on either side of the canal. We ate at Dreamboys a few times which is at the top end of the canal and the food was always 1st class.

Cheers John

I particularly like walking up the canal at night - you can have great laughs watching the night entertainment in the bars - we love the Majestic, ate there almost every night last year!!

Hi and welcome Karen

I really must second Bill's recommendation for Ibrahim and Ozzy re their part of the beach

if you walk to the beach down the canal from the Devalmi, turn right on the prom and keep going until you get to Yakamoz cafe/bar where the other little mini market is about 5 min walk down the prom, you'll come across Ibrahim and Ozzy

Ibrahim also works in Sultan jewellry at night and his dad works in the Turkish Bath, so it's worth asking him about those too - and no, I'm not on commission ha ha (if only) but he's done us proud on both counts

Nothing's too much trouble for him - he even has his own lilos which you're welcome to use

Enjoy your hol

hi karen, from cold kirkcaldy!!! we are going back to Icmeler again arriving 21/06/09 for the week with 2 teenagers !! (16 & 17)one ours and her friend..we have been going to Icmeler for 8 years now and we love it, usually stayed in the Marti but last September decided to give self catering a go and thats the way we will go from now on i think, we stayed in the Gondol above the Venice bar on the canal and will be staying there again this summer. Many nice bars and restaurants in Icmeler, you will love it, make sure to go on a boat trip. We're not great beach lovers but have used the beach in front of the Yakamoz restaurant, the beds are very clean, cheap and the guys do a great service with the food and drinks, the staff at ICR are so helpful, we really appreciated their help last year, when we overstayed our visit by 1 one day! and had to get help to rearrange flights etc, we couldnt have done it without them...maybe see you there, ending most nights in the Venice Bar ...jacqui :D :D :D
PM me with your daughters details and i will let my daughter know and they can maybe meet up...
