Ero zone money.

Postby D Craddock » 11 Dec 2008 18:39

I wonder how popular Icmeler and Turkey as a whole will be in 2009,with the euro in free fall. Luckily we have already booked our holiday in Icmeler for 2009.
Listening to the bbc radio this morning an travel expert predicted Turkey would increase their uptake of british tourists. The ero zone wiil fall 35%.

The morel, those who are able to make it next year should start making arrangements as soon as possible.
Dave.

I very much doubt the Lira will ever equate to a pound. If it ever will this will be as Admin say a very long time away. I have been following the currency markets very closely lately on the news.

We got back from Benidorm yesterday. I changed my money here and got 1.12, was the same in Benidorm. But I noticed when we left yesterday it had dropped to 1.04. In Alicante airport yesterday they were offering 1£ equalled 0.89euro.

On the upside though I had a nice holiday, but it is getting very expensive in some bars 2 drinks and mixers costing us nearly £11 so wouldn't pay that here.

Also forgot to mention I noticed in an exchange place that 1 lira only equalled 0.29 euro so I think it will be a long time before the lira ever catched up wits us as worthless as the £ may be.

We found Lanzarote VERY expensive when we went April 08 and that coupled with 85p to a Euro led us to having several pleasant evenings in on the balcony playing cards
We'll be having a serious re think on whether we'll be going in April 09!

i hope for our Turkish friends' sake that there IS an increase in the number of visitors in 2009
From what they've been telling us in the past couple of years, they've had it hard, so it would be nice to see things in their favour

In August 08, at one point we were only getting 2.13 YTL to the £, so we're prepared at least, should things not get better in 2009 - thank goodness we booked our flights very early and paid FAR less than we did this year, so again that gives us a bit of breathing space

Personally I wouldnt mind if the Lira dropped as low as 2, of course I would like more, but compared to what I have just come back from in Benidorm icmeler would still be value for money. They would have to increase there prices in icmeler a fair bit before they would be on par with countries with the Euro.

If there weren't new restaurants/bars opening every year finaced by UK people then there would be enough bars to take all tourists.

Every year they open and a few survive for a few years so in MY opinion too many places make less profit.

Know exactly what you mean there was a bar just opened near our hotel, ran by 2 english guys, it was dead and you know for a fact if you go back next year it wont be there. There were bars that had closed down since I was there in April, and other bars that had been taken over, but they were still dead. Talking about benidorm here by the way.

I don't understand these so called business people, they open a business and copy what everyone else is doing. Why not research the market and see what is missing.
