hi did you read in todays paper that the turkish goverment are going to crack down on the high prices being charged at the airports,
lets not get our hopes up but might be good news if they do the turkish culture minister said such practices would no longer be tolerated.

I didn't think Duty Free prices were dear, just drinks and meals

duty free wasnt any higher than other airports but a bit hard to work out as it was in euros
i got 200 cigs for £9.00 and a bottle of drambuie 1 litre for £12

We really dont have a problem with the duty free prices, going out from newcastle I paid £82 for 1000 ciggies Dalaman were only £2 more on the return journey. The main problem is the concession stalls the prices are well over the top. At Bodrum airport in October we checked in and then before going through passport control we went back outside and went to a little cafe at the end of the airport building, it's mostly used by people waiting for incoming flights, and we got 2 kebabs with a small amount of chips and salad and a can of fanta each and only paid 32 lira, I know that might sound pricey but in the airport the price was half as much again. What we did at Bodrum can also be done at most airports, as long as you haven't gone through passport control you can come and go as you please.

the duty free is still very reasonable in my opinion, it's just the food and drink prices.

Duty free is still quite good, I was in benidorm in april and paid about £32 for 200 cigs, paid £14 for 200 of the exact same brand in dalaman airport in june.

Funny, I sent an email to this man's office some weeks ago about Dalaman overcharging, I hope it had something to do with his actions, but I doubt it
