Turkish Friend

When we were in Icmeler last year, we met a wonderful young Turkish lad who showed us round and made our holiday so special. We had him over for a two week holiday to Scotland in March this year - then we met up with him in Icmeler this summer.

To cut a long story short, we love this wee guy to bits and I have a special birthday coming up in just over two weeks (going to be 40!) and he's putting the final touches to his visa so he can be here for my birthday party - how lucky am I!

He's going to be staying over Christmas, and for obvious reasons - has never celebrated Christmas before, so we feel honoured to be the ones to share this experience with him.

What a wonderful life when everything works out right! Just wanted to share that with you all :D

Thanks Reesy, I'm so excited that I'm fit to burst! My parents have 'adopted' him as a son, and my hubby and I as a brother, and to have him here for my 40th and for Christmas is just magical.

I can imagine how you feel. Phill and I are like that with our friend Ahmet, hopefully one day he can come to Wales and we can show him the hospitality that he and his Parents showed us last year when we hired a car for a few days to go and visit them in their home.

I really envy you having your Turkish friend coming to visit you. My son got engaged on the 13th October, and they have announced that they will be married on the 4th June, 2010. My big wish would be that I could have both our Turkish friends come to the Wedding here in Wales. My dream would be for them both to walk into the reception at the hotel and surprise my son. (my son was 8 when we first met them, and they think the world of him and my daughter) They have been so kind to us as a family since 1995, and we feel that having them come over would be the only way we could repay them for everything they have done for us. If only wishes came true!

Hi Helen

You could always invite them over for the wedding. I will pm you with information how to do this and that would make your sons wedding extra special.

Knowing how the Turks drive, maybe I could let him drive Phills car (not mine) and what a wonderful dinner of lamb for 3 persons we could have that night. Just pretend we are at Vince's

Blondie 2211, just a wee passing thought, your friend will never have experienced a Christmas but if he is with you at Hogmanay, will he be fit to go home :?: :D

Culture shock really springs to mind if the weetoon is anything to go by :D

On a more serious note, we hope he has a ball and it is something that we would also love to do.

Hi weetoony

Your quite right...hogmany with my lot? Poor soul doesn't know what he's letting himself in for!! :P

Because he has been over before and went back with no problems, he has a long visa this time - so think he's planning on staying a while, much to our delight :D

Thanks for your best wishes, we are going to have a ball.

He was over in March and brought his thermal long john's with him - I have no doubt they will be packed in the top of his suitcase again!
He said he cannot wait to feel the cold weather and he's hoping for snow :?
