Good exchange rate

Postby steve-mcr » 31 Oct 2008 21:35

Its my first visit to Icmeler next year. I'll be changing Sterling to Turkish Lira before we go and having not been to Turkey for years I don't really know what is seen as a good rate. How many Lira were you getting for your pound last summer? I noted in my local Travelcare today it was 2.33 to the pound yet I'm sure it was about 2.5 last week. I appreciate that no-one will be able to tell me whether the rate will get better or worse but if I know what is generally seen as a good rate I'll have more of an idea.

Thanks in advance.

2 years ago I was getting 2.75 lira to the £, but I think some people were getting 3 lira to the £ at some point during 2006. It has gone as low as 2.1 of late, so somewhere in the middle, 2.5 would seem like a good rate to me.

I wish I had changed some last week when it was 2.5 - 2.6.

Have a great holiday next year, I am sure you will both fall in love like the rest of us have.

go on www.moneusavingexpert.com

They compare all the rates from all the currency providers in the UK last week some were offering 2.64 if you had it delivered to your home.

We were getting 2.4 in June, but last year we were getting 2.56.
