charlie and king

please can anyone tell me where charlie and king from the olive tree are going next year. we have spent the last six years holidays in icmeler and the past three at the bonjour. this year i know charlie was not happy there and was thinking of moving on. A couple of days ago i recieved an e-mail from the Bonjour saying that the restaurant has been taken over by Ferhat Feliz. (I belive he is very good, having run Cupids) we are returning to icmeler next year and would be interested to know if charlie has moved on or is still there.

We have just come back from Icmeler and enjoyed 2 lovely meals at the Olive Tree. Unfortunately Charlie shut up shop on Wednesday, even sold the crockery to the owners of the apartments we were staying in. It seems unclear on what they will be doing next year, which is a real shame as they are great guys. We picked the wrong week to stay in Icmeler as the place was closing really fast and by Friday it was really quiet, considering it was half term there were hardly any families about, but the weather was still fantastic. A lot of the locals were predicting that some of the restaurants would be closing for good as there are too many of them. I know that Charlie was extremely upset that he was closing but it seems that the rent on the premises were just too expensive and to keep going was no longer an option.

They were both unsure as to what they would be doing next year.

There have been a string of rumours about the Bonjour and Olive Tree restaurant.

When I was out there in September there was talk that the restaurant was closing and there would be a supermarket in its place, there was also talk that the hotel was going to have 5 room only hotel rooms and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments (which isn't true as you will see as ICR are dealing with Bonjour again for next year).

Ferhat (cupids) is definitely managing the Bonjour hotel & apartments for next summer - not sure what his connection is with the restaurant though.

I'm sure Charlie and King will be in Icmeler next year - can't imagine them going anywhere else!

Ok just to stop any rumours starting.

I don't know where Charlie and King have gone or will go to but as soon as we find out then it will be on here for all to see and they may even look in themselves and let us know.

Vinces brother Ferhat has taken over the place and we have signed a contract for 5 years so that is great.

He has also taken over the restaurant, though was talking to me the other day about maybe looking for a manager for the place, a special person who knows the ins and outs of the business very well.

There is going to be some changes made to the place as in main stairs being moved to allow more floor space to the restaurant which was very limited and also the restaurant will be refurbished with all furniture being replaced.

The roof is going up to give more space to some of the rooms and as you may have noticed yesterday we have turned the camera around so you can all watch the progress being made.

He did mention that if all this was ready before xmas then they may open for xmas and new year.

Camera offline for now but keep an eye on it for the power going back on

thank you everyone for your replies, i am sad that charlie has gone he was a very likable character, my family spent a few good nights chatting and exchanging jokes with him and his family, and a wonderful day out on the water. I hope whatever he does or wherever he goes he is happy. as for the Bonjour it has already transformed some of the rooms into two bed apartments and they are very nice we stayed there in June and Hasan was very excited about the refurb.

can i just say im hooked on this site, I love looking at the photo gallery, cant wait go go back.

Hi - Does anyone know where they will be this year? we loved the food there as we have stayed at the Bonjour numerous times when Hasan had it.

Last year King was working at Cupids and Charlie was working at Charlies (only the names are the same - it wasn't Charlies own place).

This year Alex (ex Champagne) is working at Cupids but King isn't. I have asked Alex if he can let me know if King and Charlie are working together again and if so where at.

The dolmus from the beach goes past the Champagne - a few yards up on the right hand side before you get to the Waterfall. Alex was there with Yurda but they have now parted company and Alex says he will be at Cupids this year

Hi, Charlie will be working at Charlies Restaurant this year (he worked there the end of last Summer too). This is located next door to Linekars Bar (not the one that's knocked down on the beach!), opposite the Mandolin Hotel. He's busy at the moment redecorating the place!

Charlie is at Charlie's Restaurant again this year, and apparently King is not working in Icmeler this year.

Hi Charlie is indeed working @ Charlies Restaurant next to Linakers (shame about that place as it spoils the atmosphere of Charlies) he is fine and looks very well but King has not come to Icmeler this time as he is staying in his home town with his family.

We will definitely call in to see Charlie. You are quite right - the music from other bars is very intrusive so it can be difficult having a good chat. Will just have to make sure we time it right.

Shame about King. Just have to hope he is back next year.

Well here I am in sunny Icmeler. King has opened a childrens shop in his own village so he can spend more time with his family.

Charlie is now part owner of Charleys Restaurant and over the winter has completely refurbished the place and moved the bar. There is no music (except the noise from neighbouring Linekers, and no TV's. This makes a refreshing change. The chef, as always, has moved with Charlie so the food is really good. Try the home made chicken liver pate starter served with hot toast - it's scrummy. The chips are also home made - not frozen.

Give Charleys a try - you won't be disappointed.
