well after much soul searching, we have gone and done it ,we have booked for next year we are going back to olue deniz,
we felt that icmeler has lost a little of that sparkle that has kept us going for the past five years and have decided to go back to olue deniz which we really liked befor discovering icmeler we will miss a lot of the friends we have made but for various reasons a few being mentioned on other posts felt its time for a change hopefully we will go back in a few years time but for now we need something else ,not much hassle in olue or mistakes (on bills) and hopefully not to many chav familys well there wasnt on our last trip to olue , with a fresh outlook on our return next year i will give you all a report and compare resorts but will still be part of our wonderful icmeler family that this forum brings now we have booked my count down has begun

Cassie I tend to agree with a lot you are saying & I also agree with what you are not saying  ( chavs ) . As in previous posts Icmeler is not the same anymore & i think it will soon be the time to find a resort that is like Icmeler of 5 years ago.

Agree with a lot you are saying. The main reason I will look for a change for next year is that I have been going to Icmeler for past 5 years. I feel that we have done all the trips in the area and been to many different bars and restaurants. I quite fancy Olu or Hisarnou but not sure which one

hope you have a great time Cassie and will look forward to hearing about Olu - really hope it's not changed for the worst and is true to your memories
like they say, a change is as good as a rest
we don't feel the need yet after 9 visits to Icmeler, but am sure the time will come, so your review will help us in the long term

sorry icmeler

Icmeler still has the same appeal to me after 6 visits, however for the first 4/5 days of May's break next year we are going to try a different resort. At least this way we get to see somewhere else but have the knowledge that if we aren't as happy there as we would be in Icmeler, we will have that to look forward to or if we like it know we can do both the following year :)

I never thought I'd say this, but we will be giving Icmeler a miss next year too.
I can't put my finger on it, but it just wasn't the same this year. It wasn't the prices or anything like that but there was definitely a "same old" factor. Thinking of trying Portugal next year.

Holidayed this year 4 weeks in Portugal and 3 weeks in Marmaris and loved them both.

Zog if you do feel like a change .. .. feel sure you will love Portugal.

I have thought loads of times about going somewhere else in Turkey, but still get drawn back every year, back again next summer, with our two grandsons 16 and 18 that will be a differant holiday with tenagers. We have been to places all over the world but feel cheated without the Turkey holiday. So it will be about our 24th visit to Icmeler next year.

As I didn't know what a "Chav" was, I had to look it up here http://www.chavworld.co.uk/chav.htm

Spot-on!!! For the past couple of visits to Icmeler, I pondered the mentality of these clone-like beings wearing similar uniforms of baseball caps etc, and the "Chavettes" with a similar dress code and wondered what 'gang' they associated themselves with/to......... !!

Now I know!!! ....... Thanks!! 8) (That's my Chav look!)

It will be the 9th time for us next year. I sometimes wonder about going somewhere else but never in Turkey.

It will always be Icmeler for me in Turkey and if i was looking for somewhere else it would be in a totally different country, perhaps Portugal( never Spain). I have looked at Croatia, it seems quite nice.

Something always draws us back to Icmeler, chavs or no chavs :D

sorry Icmeler

There has been a lot of negative comments about Icmeler lately but I have to say its a whole lot better than where we went a few weeks back.
We thought we would give Bulgaria a try but it was the worst holiday I have ever had. :(
People were ignorant, Russian mafia driving around all the time, food was awful and a lot of holidaymakers had belongings stolen.
Two young lads were asked to play a game of Poole with a couple of the locals and because the English lads were winning one of the others pulled a knife on him. (not a nice situation)

I have been to Icmeler for the past six years and will be going back again next year even with the bad its still GOOD :D The only positive thing I can say about Bulgaria is the beaches are beautiful, but thats it.

When did you go? was it in all inclusive place? I went in May, July and September and never spotted the lesser spotted chav! it takes all sorts, and as long as they behave I really don't care what they wear! Come on Icmeler has it's minor issues of learning to understand we don't all like loud music but it's hardly full of gangster chavs from the UK!

We usually go twice a year to Icmeler, but this time I was ready for home a couple of days before departure. I will still return to Icmeler next year, but only for 1 fortnight so I am currently looking for somewhere else in Turkey to go to for the other fortnight.

Even though I dont think I have seen all Icmeler has to offer, there is a familiarity there now which takes away the excitement of looking for new places, new friends etc. I still love Icmeler and will be back there next year.

Hi both how you doing? Just thought I would drop you a line about Turgetreis. We hade a great time there, it's big and I would think it kinda like Marmaris during high season. I think you and Phill would like it. Word of advice, if you fancy trying it make sure your hotel is near the main town, lots of people we met were in hotels about a 40 minute walk from the town. We stayed at the Irme hotel, it's right opposite the new marina and a nice stroll into town about 10 mins. You can walk along the road or go through the marina which is beautiful. Loads of bars and resturants , some of the resturants overlooking the bay are fantastic. There is a bar street, bit loud but hey some nights you might fancy it, and lots of bars tucked away in a rabbit warren of little streets. We have booked to go back to Icmeler 19 June but will be trying to get back to Turgetreis in Septemer. If you want to know anymore send me a PM.

Love Elaine and Peter.
