thanks for the tip off - we also found mystery drinks added to our bill (not at ROmance though cos we've never been there) mind you, they were things that we'd not drank
they always knocked them off straight away when I pointed them out
i do have a sneaking suspiscion that they then went to add extra drinks of what we HAD been having,
so next year, I'll be taking a pen and paper to keep a tally of what we've had

there was a bar which drinks were added to my bill ,ok its not good at all and could turn people away.one night in august i was walking up road with friend a waiter grabbed me in street said i havent paid my bill,the funny thing was i didnt even eat in there ,another person then joined him and they admitted to mistake.

We had the same thing happen with us at the Gunay (oposite Romance), they badgered us to go in everytime we passed, then they started to make us feel guilty for not going in so one night we decided to go in just for a desert. There was nothing we fancied on the menu but didn't want to be rude and walk out so ended up having pancakes or rather pancake.

7.50ytl for ONE tiny pancake on a huge plate with ice cream syrup drizzled on it (RIP OFF). We were well peed off but since found out those prices are the norm for deserts. Well we ate up (didn't take long) and asked for the bill (we just wanted to get out of there) the bill came out and it was a lot more than it should have been, I'd made a mental note of what I thought it'd come to.

We questioned the price and they went away and added it up again and it was still more than it should have been, we questioned it again and wrote down the prices of what we'd had and added it to what it should have been and they made out it was a mistake but I don't think it was at all.

I know the first few days we're there I don't really check the bills I just pay without looking (I think most people do this and they try their luck) but once you start getting down your money we're more aware of what we're spending.

I shall deffo be checking every bill now and keeping my own tab of what we've had.

next year i will pay my bar tab round pool daily ,this year i paid it every 5 days drinks on bill which i dont drink miller 7 lira i know people make mistakes but a bar tab matter trust.

awh sorry to hear that happened to you, we have gone to Romance for the past 5 yrs and know them well and never had any bother like that, even in the early days, we even get 10% each off our bill, and i do check every bill we get. You should have told the owner about being ripped off he would have sorted it for you, do you know the name of the person who you loaned to.

Twice in the past week we were ripped off. We have never experienced this before and it is 1 more nail in Icmelers coffin.

We were charged 3.5ytl for Efes in Richards Place which was advertised at 3ytl.

One afternoon we stopped at Love Star, opposite Ozzy's for a drink on the way back to the apts. Efes was advertised at 2ytl, so we ordered 2. When we asked for the Bill it said 8ytl, When I queried it the lad fetched us the board which said in large writing 'Efes 2ytl', then in very small writing 'with meal'.

This cost them their tip and our custom, after that we stopped off at Mr Chef who advertised and charged 2ytl

it's always worth checking your bill as mistakes can be made....and sometimes not always mistakes it appears, but i also think it's worthwhile reading menus and boards correctly as what happened to polly in lovestar is a bit fly by the owners but not to be too unkind, you fell into the trap.

also to say "it's 1 more nail in icmelers coffin" is a bit harsh as the amount you were overcharged in richards place was approximately 20p

I dont think its as much to do with the amount we are overcharged,
just that we are being overcharged and its all pre-meditated.

This year has seen a huge increase in overcharging,mistakes on our bills etc.
Get a grip guys because at the moment there are quiet a few dissatisfied customers to Turkey and this is not just an Icmeler problem.

There are to many mistakes and to many sorries when we question our bills.

I do not use any restaurent or bar that has attempted to overcharge me and there are a few.

at least we've not come across the one thing that REALLY gets my goat - where you pay and they keep the change automatically
when that happens, I always make a point of asking for it, taking it and then never returning!

as far as never visiting a place again where we've been overcharged..... unfortunately it happened (more than once) in a very popular bar that we love, each time we pointed it out, there was the immediate apology and refund
thinking back though, that was only with one particular waiter!
we usually have another waiter, but he's now in England so we'll just keep our eyes peeled and make a note of our drinks in future

I agree with you about falling into the trap at the Love star, it was my own fault.

As for being overcharged by the equivalent of 20p at Richards Place, as Gene said it is not what you are overcharged it is the fact that they do it.

Richard's place was my favourite place to go on a night, we spent every night and a lot of money in there when we were there in May.

On the night I have posted about, there were 4 of us. We all had a meal, and were drinking Efes all night, so it was not just 1 drink. While I am whinging, I ordered chinese beef and mushroom and was asked did I want chips or rice with it. I asked for chips and found out that these were extra when the bill arrived.

we stayed at the green mar and the bar attached to it started doing it to us and there was 4 families it was while we were round the pool of a day it happened 2 days running so we would not stay there of a evening

When we went in September, the appts we stayed had a type of debit card that you prepaid with as much or as little as you wanted and each time you had a meal or a beer or something from the little shop on site you were given an automated reciept and it was deducted from your card.
I thought it was an excellent system.
We always knew what we were charged each time. Plus we weren't holding cash around the pool or building up large bills that you can't keep track of.

unfortunatly it happened to us too.
the apparts we always stay in....non icr......had a young lad behind the bar......he was adding bits and bobs to everyones bill......not the brightest of tricks when hes charging 5 lira more for the same round of drinks!
the manager when told of this sacked the guy on the spot!
felt a bit awful...until it emerged from other guests that he was known for it and had done the same thing to numerous people.....the manager told us if we needed to use the laundry service nearby.let him do it and the charge would be 1 lira per item..........this guy was doing the laundry run.......and charging 3 lira per item to the unwary!

Hi Elayne. I think Romance has only been open since 2005, not 5 years. Trouble is with these discounts that the bars and restaurants give to certain customers to keep them coming back, they have to be recouped somehow. Your 10% will have been added to someone else's bill.

hi maymun, just to clarify the romance has beeen open since before 2005, it used to be smaller but they knocked the barbers down and extended, basically at the end of the day don't give money to anyone unless you can afford to lose it and ALWAYS check your bill, no matter how many efes i have had i always know i still love icmeler though

Kind of (nearly) got overcharged there in May but when we actually went to pay our bar tab (from the night before) it had miraculously dropped by about 15ytl. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed that they had made a genuine mistake.

Went back there in September but didn't think very much of it. It seemed to have changed - the food was a bit *blah*, there was zero atmosphere and it was dealthy quiet as there was no music or DJ.

We were also caught by a beach boy.....who seemed to add 2lira to everyone's bill at the end of the day..... we challenged himand the excuse was oh sorry, too much sun!.......We gave him the benefit of the doubt and he didnt do it to us again. We're not tight, and tend to tip well, but you are having to pay for the sunbeds each day (that really does p me off!!) Anyway if he tries that with everyone each day, that is some profit he's making!!!

We wouldn't have a bad word to say about Romance we come to Icmeler every year and go here most nights, last year when my boyfriend proposed we went here afterwards the staff set off fireworks outside the Chef ran over to the shop and got ingredients for a cake and made us a lovely engagement cake it was an amazing night, we have never been ripped off and find our bills to be reasonable, although we havn't been here since last sept.
