Has anyone ever been early April, Easter hols are first two weeks was thinking of going then. Anyone know if there are many places open, people about, weather, etc?

We were there this april and there wasnt a great deal open, on the canal majestic and venice were open but none of the stall shops were open-it really wasnt busy at all, there isnt tons of hotels even open until last week of April
