Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for at least six months on entry into Turkey and have at least three months' validity on the date you are exiting Turkey. If you hold a Travel Document it must be valid for at least one year on entry into Turkey
i got this of the fco web site
is it CORRECT
we arrive 5th oct staying for 15 day and our passport ends on 5th march

ive been reading and serching some say full 6 months others say a year im so confused

Hi Feefee,

Here is a link to a thread already started on this subject.

Its 6 months validity needed on a UK passport. I am unsure if this is six months on date of entry or date of departure from Turkey. Even if you do need to renew the passport, the new passport gives the remainder of the time left on the current passport, plus the 10 years, so at least you dont lose out on those precious months.

You've got over 2 months, I think you'll be fine.

I think you will have plenty of time to renew it. Have a look at the online application form.

hey feefee, in my experience, it's worth paying for the PO fee to check your passport and i think it's about £6
they give you a ref no and a number you can use to check progress on your application
like others have said, you've plenty of time - the papers mention there's a backlog of apps into mid Aug due to the strikes, but a renewal only take 2 weeks usually so you're looking at early Sept to get your new ones back by my reckoning

anyway, be sure to raise your glass please for our youngest - it's her bday on 5 Oct
