I can't think of much to say to be honest, we hired a car for a couple of days which was great, had a drive up to Bodrum, did the normal boat trips, hired a speed boat twice, lay on the beach swam ate good food and drank cold beer.

The police had a real crackdown on hassle about 4 bars and a travel agents with tape around them for 3 days, I was told they closed loads in Marmaris

hi rob

Have you hired a car before? How did you find driving ? I am hiring a jeep in Sept/Oct to go to a few places and see some more real Turkey

My mate did the driving and he has driven all over the world, it was a lot better than expected, the roads are a little bumpy, out of the towns the driving was quite good all things considered. You do get to see the real Turkey on the drive to Bodrum, we also went to Kunos (spelling) and Ackaca (spelling again) which were closer to home lots of small rural villages.

You know when you are in the real Turkey when nothing is written in English, and the cafes are not advertising "Full English"

I agree with you about the real Turkey. We hired a car last September and went to out friends Parents home near Konya. (12 hour drive) but half an hour out of Icmeler, its like being in a different place.

Ate at proper little Turkish cafe / restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Return journey ate at what can only be described as a Motorway Cafe, but had the nicest cheese omelette ever! When it arrived it was in like a clay pot and looked un-cooked....wow, how wrong was I once it continued cooking. Brilliant.

I cant confess to doing much of the driving, I think my Turkish friend was nervous and took over   especially when my left hand kept looking for a gear stick

Colette, take a change of clothes or something to cover up with, I felt much better with longer trousers and a more covered up T shirt, rather than clothes I would wear around Icmeler.
