Have a good holiday Mr BB, I'm sure you will. We always take travellers cheques and a bit of English money.
I still can't get my head around the money
My husband always says if you say 10 lira is £4 approx you won't go far wrong.
It still takes me ages to work out how much something is in English money and to check I have got the right change.
Bear in mind we have been going to Icmeler for a long time and have never been ripped off.

Hey Mr BB, you're in for a real treat
if the money confuddles you too much, just use ££s, or failing that...times the Lira by 4 to get the equivilant in £s.
8TL x 4 = about £3.20 25TL x 4 = £10 etc

lastly, enjoy and tell us what you think when you get back

Thanks for the replies, we are flying out on saturday night and yes it going to be hot but im sure we will be prepared for the heat we went to Florida this time last year and it was in the 40's there and we survived :D with 2 kids 10 and 8. what i ment about the money side of things was there seems to be a difference of opinion about which curency to take with us ie sterling lira dollar travelers etc , which is the best to take ? we have transfers booked from Airport to Icmeler with A to B transfers has anybody used them before?
Many thanks Mr BB :)

there's lots of posts/threads on this already Mr BB - just use the search button at the top of the page

it's just personal preference I think - though apparently Nationwide offer a good rate and you can use their cards in the ATMs

enough Lira to get me through the first few hours, and the rest in £s for us - we even pay for our accom there in £s on our last day...the owner doesn't want it from us any sooner, he reckons we are there to enjoy ourselves ha ha

I'll also be taking a few euro that I brought back from Ibiza last October

apol, just noticed your question about the transfer and sorry can't help - we either let the apart owner sort it out, or use ICR

again, you could use the search facility at the top of the page to see what's already been posted?

you will have a great time , and you picked a great place in every way for your first visit
imo ....we only ever take sterling
you can use it to pay and change it in nearlly every restraunt , bar , and also on the markets and clothes shops , you get a better rate .and they are glad to take it
no reason to take anything else
just ALWAYS get a safe at your accomodation and a way you go
plenty of sun cream , and if its your first time ...don't make hasty desicions ..think before paying ....in some situations .market especially , if you are not too sure ....don't be scared to say .thank you and walk away and go back when you have worked it out
for warned is for armed , they all have to make a living :)
the sun can play mind games :D

if you booked a transfer , then i wouldn't worry at all , they will be there
and if the worst happens , its £50 about to icmeler and plenty of taxis at the airport :) don't worry
you will have a great time as long as you apply the sun cream !! :D

Don't know anything about the Ekinci but it is about 5 minutes outside the town lovely location restaurants just down the road Ozzy's Love Star Mr chef and also a supermarket a minute or two away took some photo's of it look on photo gallery Icmeler June 2008 always take sterling with just enough Lira for the first day if you want a converter go on a website called Oanda and print off the currency cheat sheet it gives you a break down of the currency hope this helps.
