Just some advice required please. A group of 10 of us (including my 18 month old daughter) fly out to Icmeler on 11th Sept 08. I have been told that the transfer can take up to four hours (my daughter will be really bored by then!!) so is it worth getting our own private transfer?

Also, I have been looking at taking Turkish lira with me, but have heard differing opinions as to whether this is necessary i.e they give a better exchange rate if you pay in £ sterling over there.

Finally, and helpful tips as to what to take. Will we need towels (staying at Pinewood apartments), coats, mozzie rep, bath plugs(!)?

Many thanks all

After doing the tour operaters transfers for many years this year we have decided to book with icr for our transfers the average time with t/o is around 2/3 hrs but with icr its approx 1hr 15 . wish we had done it before .We always take enough lira for 1 day and take pounds and change it when we are there . Sorry cant help on pinewood apts but the reviews are very good.

Many thanks for that. I figure that it will be worth the extra few quid to get there quickly. Just hope the rest of our party agree!!

hi cobus 123 pinewood will suply towels for use in the room but you will have to either take or buy towels over there for use by the pool. we have stayed at pinewood for the last 12 years and never got bothered by mozzies. no baths just showers. it should still be hot then but might get a bit chilly at night. we will be there on the 21st aug for 2 weeks. if you want to know any thing else just ask

I dont think the transfares would take four hours, if there included in the price I would just stick with them If not book direct
beach towels you can buy at the many shops ive been in sept oct and may never needed a jacket but always bring one just incase

i think transfers are a must the coach will take 3 hours and remember if someones suitcase is lost add another hour for the cost of transfer i would recommend it from past experience

ICR transfer is FAST !!! We were in our apartment 1hr 45mins after leaving the airport. Give ICR a ring or PM Admin and I'm sure they'll give you all the info you'll need.

We didn't take any Lira this year just english, there's so many places to get your money changed it's really not worth changing more than £10 - £15 at home before you fly out. The exchange is much better out there than here. All the supermarkets will change your english there's also plenty of banks too - don't worry. Also you can get really good deals in the markets and they take £10 notes, there's usually 5 t-shirts for £10 - we found it easier to work out what we were spending and if we were really getting a good deal or not buying in english. Say you buy something for £13 and give them £20 they give you change in Lira.

I'd take the repellent just to be on the safe side - especially taking a baby with you, it's better to be safe than sorry.

You can get 2 massive beach towels (they cover a sun lounger) for £10 - if anyone tries to charge more tell em you'll go else where, the big market on a Wednesday they were all selling them 2 for £10 but the little bazars up the canal were trying to charge 2 for £15 so be careful. Shop around and get an idea what other people are charging before you buy anything.

Wouldn't worry about taking a coat a cardi will be enough for nights (might take a blanket for the little one tho) - altho we do take a light jacket to travel in and to use just incase it is cold at night. We went last september and I took my cardi out every night and never wore it once.

Hi cobus. im staying at the pinewood on the 8th sept till the 22nd, so i will see you there :)

I stayed there in may, they had towels but only to keep in the room, and they have a shower not a bath.

I would take another lira for that night then just change it up when your there, or like other people said get a nationwide card, thats what ive got now ready for september.

Rosie

A big thank you
