Ibo gone, long live Hussein=Dogs home and Caunus

Postby stevefaragher » 12 Jul 2008 22:56

Just got back from a very very hot week in Icmeler, went for my shave at Ibo's at the back of Tansas, but he is not here this year he has stayed in Adana, so went lookignt for an alternative and found Hussien at beyond the Fringe on the main drag. Very quick very very smooth shave and cheap too 10 ytl with the tip.

On a different note, went to a couple of new palces for food, the Aysim run by Omar (as camp as Catterick) and Melissa (Alex) both great food, big portions, good value.

We also were fishing off the concrete pier when we saw this large greeney browney shape about to pass underneath the pier, which turned out to be a large turtle which eventually surfaced for air and headed out to sea.

Also two other more unusual things people can do on holiday rather than jsut go the beach or the market.....

we spent a fantastic hour looking around the dog's home in Marmaris, we were given a tour by the bloke who runs it for the council (Erol Kilic (sword)) he is truly the top dog or baba Kopek I shot some video and will be putting on the Youtube when its's been edited ina week or so. If you have a spare afternoon go up for a look around, the dog's love meeting new people, dont go in your best clothes though, as they dog's mob you. The dogs all seem happy if a little hot. but they do have their own pool to cool out in (fresh water from a mountain stream. Dotn forget to leave a donation as the place is run on a shoe string.

We also hired a minibus and drove up to the Koycegiz lake took refershing dip and then drove up to Caunus and visited the Roman and Greek ruined city, which was incredibly impressive and devoid of visitors.well worth the visit. I will be putting photos here soon and also on my myspace.

I would have loved to have seen the Turtle, also the dogs home. Where in Marmaris is the dogs home?

Isnt it nice to have something different to do instead of just the normal things.

Maybe an idea for ICR to do - Mystery Tour of different things to do on holiday

Postby stevefaragher » 13 Jul 2008 12:58

the dogs home is near the otogar or garage (I think buses and bin lorries park up there at night) as you are about to leave maramaris the road rises and there is a shell garage on the right and the otogar is in the road behind it follow the barking up the hill, and there it is!!! we got a dolmus to the ataturk statue and then jumped a cab, the driver sort of got our gist...."otogar....kopek (dog) Ev (house)" "EVET!" 5 mins later we were there, there we were covered in dog nectar....

alternative activities

Postby stevefaragher » 13 Jul 2008 13:05

We have often thought about trying to do or organise an alternative activity holidays, ie painting drawing and photography, photoshop video production and editing and learning a bit of Turkish and turkish cookery too.

Any takers???
