Rain in August

Postby adewolves » 11 Jul 2008 16:29

I'm going for 2 weeks on August 7th. Just want to know if it normally rains much around this time of the year (looking on the web cam looks like its raining now) although I doubt it rarely does much, just wanted to know. We went to spain 2 years ago in high season and the whole of the second week it tipped down, thats why I chose Turkey this time.

Have been to Turkey for the last ten years and seen three drops in ten years. Swear mother in law was a jinx as it's the only time she ever came with us. We are going in August too. As the weather is so bad here can't wait. We have had torrential rain ALL day today.

Dont want to be a{wet blanket} but have been there hight of summer 100% plus and the heavens have opened electrical storms lasting maybe halfhour or so very spectacular but no way a problem another halfhour and you wouldnt have known it had rained it certainly brought out all the freshness from the plantlife Have to say though it is very rare but when it rains it b------well rains' about 3yrs ago it washed half the beach away but a couple of hours hard graft by the beach lads wading into sea with shovels etc and every thing was back to normal Quite an experance one thing it never is though is that horrible overcast stuff we get UK

I wouldn't mind if it rains to be honest, would rather be there and have rain than be stuck in this overcast grey country that we live in. I sometimes feel like packing up and living there I know the rate of pay is next to nothing but sometimes it really does feel tempting.

Totally agree Steve, our summers now are sporadic days there's no continuaity. You can guarntee if we have say 4 days of good sunshine (which is rare now) it will hammer down of rain for 5 days after that...pretty obvious why the barbecues are so cheap to buy now, because it's a waste of time buying one.

Is it just me or is it this site, because I have to check my posts as the letters I type dont always come up to what I type.

Just had an email from someone in Marmaris.

It did rain,I think yesterday with thunder as well but not for long. It was still 40 at 5pm.
If it ever does rain it's not for long. I have only seen it once for 5 minutes in 6 years of going to Turkey. 8)
