First meal

Postby skilly » 09 Jul 2008 17:27

Can anyone remember their first meal in Icmeler (not breakfast)
We had something that was then called 'Slam in the Lamb'
It was lovely. There was loads to eat - chilli peppers, veg & big leg of lamb.
It would have fed a family of 4.
The people who ran the bar kept bringing us melon & fruit afterwards for no charge.
Memories :)

What kind of fish do they put in the salt. I am not a big seafood person, I like some fish. I like to try different things.

I dont know what the fish is called, it was white, but when they deliver it to your table, the waiter has to chisel away at the salt, its very hard, then they fillet your fish and de-bone it. It was beautiful. I have had it 3 times now, takes a little while to cook, so sometimes worth pre-ordering.

Edit to say, its not a strong tasty fish, just nice.

Sunday roast at my mums request, ( because I think sunday roasts on holiday should be avoided, we eat enough of them at home, :D) we arrived for our first holiday in Icmeler on a Sunday, I wanted to watch liverpool arsenal game at 4pm, how handy because there was linekers right opposite the hotel we'd just checked in to. Watched match in Linekers, then went next door to Charlies for roast, very nice!

First meal in 2002 was a Turkish Casserole at Richards Place when it was in the old village, it was terrible, really greasy and it took nearly 2 hours to feed us, never went back again.

Since then 99.9% of food has been excellent, one bad experience in 2003 at the former Lion bar when we walked out after 90 minutes, we were the third or fourth table to be seated and never got fed, excuse was they were busy but others were getting fed with a 15-20 minutes of coming in, we put it down to the fact that we had been offered a free bottle of wine and the first round of drinks free (We didn't ask they were offered), I presume they were trying to make up for the freebies hoping we would drink more, we did ask the waiters on a number of occassions and even the PR guy who had tempted us in but still no food, amazingly as soon as we walked out we were caught up by three waiters and the manager saying our meal was ready, they had lost the ticket, didn't persuade us to go back though. Got to Denise Kapiza and the kids were fed in 10 minutes, the adults had lost their hunger.
