I know some places put it in a pot, the management do take a cut. I can't say this happens everywhere, but there are some. I was told that's what they do at the Kurt Apartments.

we've been told they do that at our apartments too
so we usually hand the money personally to the cleaner and receptionist etc to be sure they get all of it

We were told at the Kurt apartments, Mr Kurts son goes in the room before the maids are allowed in, and anything worth taking he'll have it.

Thats not very nice! I remember when my dad gave a tip to one of the waiters in waterfall and he said he will put it in the top so all the waiters get something out of it. so they all must just split it at the end of the night or what not.

I'm staying at the Kurt and not too happy with the sound of that we always have a safe but what would be the point if the owner's son is taking what he wants, they will have a duplicate key. Do i need to be extra cautious?

Hi Jozzyd
I think Steve was meaning the son goes in and takes the tips left for the maids, not that he goes into your safe

I hope
I always hand my tip the the maid on our last day, that way you know she's getting it

Thanks Lyn that's what I meant.
They never go in your room while you're staying there, I meant tips, lotions, toiletries etc.
I actually quite like the safes at the Kurt apartment. They are in Mr Kurts office, they remind me of the old bank safety deposit boxes you see in old films. It takes 2 keys to open them, mr kurt has one and you have one, without both keys it wont open. So you can leave your key lyeing round the apartment without haveing to hide it, safe in knowing that even if a theif has the key they still can't get in the safe.

That's a relief!! Had visions of stuff being rifled through, even double checked all the reviews, having a blonde moment sorry

Thats fine. You wont be disapointed. The Kurt familly have their faults but don't think they'd steal from their guests.

cant say in regard to apartments etc but in the kapisi and other bars ive used you can watch your bill being processed and the tip pushed into a tip box for all to see including other waiters and customers
