Just one question Why do we all think of Icmeler as Home

I think of Icmeler as home, becauses it Welcoming, friendly and comfortable.

I have always felt safe there.

I never thought that I would keep going back to the same place, year after year but its compulsive. I just cant stop.

Maybe theres a place like AA for us folk hooked on Icmeler.
This is one addiction I dont think I want the cure for.

It's funny when you read this forum how many people call Icmeler home, and how many people say that since they went to Icmeler they have never been anywhere else.

I had i guy come to service our water machine in the office 2 days ago and i do know him as he is from the same town as me. We were talking about holidays and i said i was going to Turkey this year and he said his mums been going there for years now and wont go anywhere else and guess where it is she goes, yes you've got it Icmeler!!!!

just goes to show you it is a small world and even more so for me as i only live in a small town.

As i have said before, my friend is coming with me this year and she has never been to Turkey before let alone Icmeler, she is so looking forward to it i have shown her stuff on this site and she thinks Icmeler looks wonderful. I think she will want to go back and she hasn't even been there yet.!!!

Its just so relaxed and despite recent price rises is still very good value for money.The food is great and the shopping fantastic value.Weather to is just right.
Oh blimey its raining outside,lets get back to thinking about HOME.

I have to agree with Lynn, but it's just a feeling I get when I get there. And after we had been the first time we always wanted to go back, but due to various factors didn't go back for a few years and when we got there both me and mum looked at each other and said this is why we wanted to go back, just that feeling of being at home.

People so friendly, welcoming, and it having everything I want need from a holiday.

Between me and mum we have converted a few people/families in going to Icmeler in the first place and on return understanding why it is we go back year after year, and they want to do the same

I have tried may holidays all over the world and other destinations in Turkey and now been going back to Icmeler for the last 16 years. You cant explain it it just makes you feel safe & relaxed. It true what they say once you go you dont stop, we took my sister and brother in law for the 1st time 3 years ago now all they talk about is when they are going back.

Even though we have left Icmeler behind or maybe waiting our turn to visit there is no stopping us thinking about the place we have all become to love.

The mind is a wonderfull thing were we can all create a place of ecapeism.
How many of you, are like me and think about Icmeler every day,and create a little fantasy were we can live our dreams.
No one can break in on our thoughts, this makes them all the more special,
we are the masters of our own little world.

I cant be on my own, I would think we all have that secret desire to "Escape" our normal lives and relive our Happy Times.

Why do we keep going back to Icmeler?

Is it the feeling pf belonging?
Loving a culture different to ours?
The Magnificent scenery?
A love of the food be it Turkish or International?
The nightlife,the Karaoke,dance bars,the theme shows or a quite drink?
The trips out on the boats,jeep safari,horse riding or the watersports?
The sun,sea and sands?

I have my reasons, and can list all the above as being a part of my repeat visits but the main reason I think is.

"I AM HOME"

As always Gene you have captured it with the right words again!

My mum is sick of me dreaming of escaping the reality of work eat sleep work eat sleep to pay for next visit to 'home'.

Oh well 12 weeks and I'll be sitting in a bar having a great 1st night home looking forward to the next 2 weeks . . . . . . . . . . .


. . . . . oh yeah I was away in that wee dream world once again the music, dancing, drink, meeting new friends and old alike

stayed in mamaris many times but it was only last year we spent the day in icmeler went over 9am spent the day their went on the beach had a lovely lunch dashed back to the hotel quick shower then back to icmeler for the evening that was it we were in love with the place we spent the rest of the week their its lovely and quiet and so relaxing just lovely

I have never felt so safe, relaxed and at home anywhere else in the world, including my own home town in the UK. I would never dream of wandering around on my own in the evening, even thought we live in a fairly respectable area. Yet when I go 'home' to Icmeler, if hubby wants to watch the footie, I will go for a wander on my own.... I feel totally safe.
