I have had this said and my answer is "have you been".

Icmeler ticks all and I mean all the boxes for us and I guess many of us this forum.

Dare I say this ,but, I am as guilty as any Icmelerite .
I tell everyone that Icmeler is " Heaven on Earth " but i hope the time will never come that our beloved Icmeler will become a suburb of the dreaded Marmaris.I regularly describe the two resorts as Blackpool & St Anne's , sorry to the few Blackpool Icmelerites.

Janden, I'm a Blackpool Icmelerite and that's a very good comparison! I describe Marmaris as Blackpool with sun. Give me Icmeler anytime. :D

know what you mean red rob.Always asked that question and always gave the reply. When you are lucky enough to find a place that you all enjoy and are treated like one of the family why would you want to go elswere.

I have friend who always goes to Cyprus.
She goes to different resorts but always in Cyprus.

She says she goes there because her husband has a digestive disease and she doesn't want to risk Turkey.
Why do some people have such a negative image of Turkey even when they haven't tried it?

I had quite a negative view of Turkey before I went for the first time in July 2006. I thought it would be a dirty place full of hassle, but oh boy, was I surprised. I now spread the word to everyone I talk to about how clean Turkey is, especially Icmeler and how wonderful the Turkish people are.

Been asked a few times now people I know don't bother just laugh when I tell them I've already booked for next year  But when people ask I tell them it's like going home and meeting friends old and new nowhere else like it (well that I've been to anyway).

I think a lot of people still remember a number of years ago when there were quite a few food poisoning outbreaks and people who were just laid up during their stay in Turkey and I think the reputation has stuck even though it has happened in a number of countries the expression springs to mind mud sticks.

I have a problem with my stomach and have to be careful what I eat as all the food in Turkey is very rich and also spiced, but I was prescribed some tablets for the condition and as long as I take one each day while I am away I don't have a problem touch wood.

I am always asked why by people and tell them that it is like coming home as I live in South Wales and when I look up at the mountains in the mornings in Icmeler it is like being home in Wales, but has the added advantage of beautiful sunshine and friendly polite people who cannot do enough for you
