Friends of mine have just returned from a holiday in Turunc. Had a great time but said on the last few days prices were suddenly increased in all of the bars - by about 25% !

Efes now 5ytl (my tipple), and resturant prices significantly higher. Is the same happening in Icmeler.

I suppose it was to be expected but the size of the increases are suprising to me.

I was in Icmeler 2 weeks ago and found the prices pretty much the same as last year, Efes 3.50 or 4 ytl. There are some places where we were charged 5ytl for a small beer - didn't drink there again!

Hi just spoke to the inlaws in icmeler and they said that the price of bread has gone up 50% and other prices on things not that bad ,I hope it dont go that bad cause only 12 sleeps for us YIPPEEE!!!!

you kinda expect proces to go up a bit, but at least is isnt as bad as the euro my mum and dad just come back from greece and prices have rocketed this year ah well only 11 more sleeps for me

yeah but 50% is a lot to go up and thats only the bread they will price themselves out of the market soon as meals can already be sort from here at most pubs 2 for 1 now and IO l know before you all shout the quality isnt the same but well we are all watching our pennies at the moment is there anyone at actually in Icmeler at the moment who can confirm whether this is a rumour or are prices going up on a daily basis

I suppose if it's quiet as we were discussing on a different thread, then they are going to have to try and make some money back which they are obviously loosing. If bread has gone up by 50% then it's gone up from 20p to 40p still pretty reasonable to me.

sorry yeah I know the price rise for bread isnt a lot but if prices in bars and restaurants are rising by 25% then a family of say 4 /5 will find that a very big difference and could cause problems with spending money I was using the bread as an exmaple as I would pay far more for their bread then we have paid over the years cheap as chips and not processed either fresh not like what you have here and have to pay 1.00+ per loaf

I agree we are starting from a fairly low base, but if everything is increasing at this rate then its no longer the bargain holiday of earlier years. Won't stop me going a few times a year, but with 20%+ rises looking like they have arrived together with a lower exchange rate than last year and year before (adding upto another 10% at current rates), I'll just have to be more cafeful than previously.

Also noticed a number of the ICR excursions have been put up eg Pammukale from £17 to £25 - thats almost 40% which I assume is being driven by the fuel increases. Still a good day out for a reasonable price but if buying for 4 it all starts to add up.

I'm just hoping this is a blip.

this is what I was driving at in previous years I have always gone on a boat trip all inc not with icr but with another company brilliant but over the years I have seen this rise from 10.00 to 18.00 each and that is a big price rise for a family and I know this company never give discounts for large numbers either (not icr the other company)

Is there anyone out in Icmeler at the moment who can confirm anything. My friends were based in Turunc and the prices were increased due to an instruction from the council - something to do with eveyone having to charge the same amount. All happened on Thursday 5th June and caused quite a stir from what I've heard.

This may not be relevant in Icmeler/Marmaris but I've no idea. However we now have evidence of bread and day trips going up significantly so somethings going on.

I believe the cost of fuel in Turkey has rocketed sky high, hence the trips going up, I have asked for some extra info for you all though

I wondered last year why the meal prices were going up, I was told most places use bottled gas to cook with, hence again gas prices rising.

With regards to bread ( my retail days coming in here guys) bread is the single best profit margin in a supermarket ( I was married to a baker as well) unbelievable isn't is, but it's true.

Yes places are doing trips cheaper, meals cheaper, transfers cheaper etc etc, but I am sure that next year when they have made no profit they will be out of business.

Guess it depends what we want for our pound, a holiday in our little haven struggling with the terrifying costs increase or a cheapo holiday to ermm wherever lol

Not just us in the UK feeling the credit crunch I guess

I agree with you - just the value of the increases that made me blink - expected something like 10% this year looking at Turkey inflation figures, but these are huge rises (although as I said earlier from a low base).

I'm not particularly concerned as I'm ok fortunately and will be there in a couple of weeks, again in August and again in October. I'll just have to draw down about 30% more funds than I had planned by the sound of it...

The cost of the cheap holiday has gone I have been looking at flight price for August this year as I have just had the ok to travel from the doctors last year we paid for a family of 4 £964 for flights the best am comming up with at the moment is £1350 a incress of 40% looking at the accommodation prices through ICR they are on par with last year and so is the transfer cost but with the ever incressing price of fuel and the cost of food on the incress to, it wont be long before ICR have to put up there prices.
The hotel and apartment owners will have to pass on the price rise or they will go bust its a catch 22 position

i went to tenerife at the beginning of april.the exchange rate and the higher prices £3 for a large beer ,not a pint. etc. WHAT HAPPENS....the bars and restaurants are EMPTY,the bar owners wonder why...the punters stay in the apartments at night,enjoy the sun and air during the day and probably have a more relaxed holiday overall.THEY JUST CUT BACK and spend what they would have done before or even less...the holuday makers still enjoy themselves but the GREED of others is not fed...i.e. the bar owner who thinks he can add more on etc...as for the council dictating what goes on with prices ,i think it should be supply and demand that dictates what kind of deal you put on offer for drinks and food...also the poor guys selling clothes will not have a chance this season,thought they were getting greedy last summer.
I really think the crunch is with us and we have all booked to go,but wonder how many peoples circumstances have taken a turn for the worse financially since they booked last year or early this year.They can only balance the books by spending what they have and not another 25% or more.We shall see how this story developes over the next few weeks....we go on the 30th so will be able to see myself.
Will still enjoy my holiday...but you look for savings to get you through.
