Icmeler Online Holiday Forum & Reviews - Turkey

Hi all, was wondering how you all got to hear of Icmeler, in my case we always holidayed in Marmaris but 1 year while staying there i met a friend from work ( who i didnt know was going to Turkey) staying in our apartments, he told us about the lovely beach in Icmeler and for a couple of years we stayed in Marmaris but went to the beach in Icmeler every day, so finally we decided to take the obvious step and stay in Icmeler, its now been 4 years of holidaying in paradise, cant see us going elsewhere now,but how did you all come to love and hear about our favourite resort

Hello Robbo, 15yrs ago some relatives of ours went on holiday and they showed us the photo's and said they thought we would like it,so we gave it a try and then went twice every year May and Sept until this year when my husband has now become too ill to travel, but I did enjoy the place so much and have seen so many changes

A last minute deal (like next day) in October 2005 because it was cheap and we figured somewhere in Turkey would be warm at that time of year!

Before that I had never heard of the place!

Marjorie, im sorry to hear about your husband, hope its something he can get over and you and him can return to Icmeler soon to sample its delights. I know everyone has a personal story to tell of icmeler but hope when each of us are out there this year we take a minute and raise a glass or two to you and your hubby, hoping that next year you will be out toasting each others good health

Hi robbo, came to Icmeler because we were fed up of the normal resorts like spain, greece etc etc getting more & more expensive. Gave Icmeler a go one year and never looked back. However we went to Zante last year to show the kids some where different. Unfortunately it left us with the impression that all they wanted was our cash, you literaly had to pay for everything, one shop keeper wanted 2 euro just to pump up a lilo that we actually we bought from her shop. Needless to say she was given back the lilo and told to position it where the sun doe'nt shine in Greece. Its a shame because me and the wife realy liked Greece the first time we went many moons ago. We asked the kids where they wanted to go this year and with no hesitation they said Icmeler. Its as though once you've been, you leave something behind when you leave, and have always got to return to find it.

Hello marjorie, sorry to hear about you husband but I'm sure you'll have many treasured memories of Icmeler. I guess that now we are finding the magic that you found for 15 years and we can enjoy it as long as you did. I'm sure that if you read the forums,look at the photo gallery and close your eyes it'll be as good as being there

Thank you for your kind wishes,but my husband is 87 and has Parkinsons so the journey now is too much for him,but we do manage holidays here in the UK,however, I still love to read the forum and look at all your photographs,that way I feel that I am there.

That's what I like to hear marj, you and your husband enjoy yourself where ever you are.

We first visited Turkey in Olu Deniz. Absolutely loved it and returned. The following year we thought 'we MUST try somewhere different', we'd always gone from one place to another. Went to Icmeler, and this is now our 5th year there, have given up thinking of going elsewhere!
My husband says each year it ticks all the boxes and he's quite right.
Besides, now we have lots of friends there.
Actually last year, for unavoidable reasons we had to go to Gumbit, and had I gone there first I certainly wouldnt have returned to Turkey. We had a day trip on the Hydrofoil to Icmeler, I could have cried having to leave at the end of the day!
Up early, couldnt sleep - we fly to Icmeler tonight.

we first went to icmeler 4 years ago to surprise a friend for her 40th birthday. and we just keep going back

we were exactly the same as PAPA P
it was literally a last 12 hour deal,,
as it was also our first time in turkey,,we loved it,,
we thought all of turkey must be the same,, WRONG
so we tried,altinkum, and gumbet,,
we did NOT like altinkum,,at all
we then tried gumbet,,on a friends reccommendation,,it was OK,much better than altinkum,,BUT not a patch on icmeler
we have only been ONCE,but cannot wait to get back there,,
we found the people a lot friendlier,,NOWHERE near the hassle we got in the other places,and being in our mid 40s,a lot quieter,more laid back,than the other 2,,plus being a short dolmus ride from marmaris,,if we felt like a rowdy night out,,,

I found Icmeler by Luck.

I won free flights in a competition and Icmeler was one of the places I could fly to.
Having been to nearly every where in Spain decided to give Icmeler a go. I went with my friend and loved it. So the next year I dragged hubby along he was not very keen.

What can I say he loves it more than me now

I feel very lucky to have won the flights, but even luckier to have found Icmeler,where I have made many friends of all nations over the years who we still keep in touch with.

Went to Marmaris about 12 years ago; too dolmus to Icmeler and fell in love with it Been going back ever since. When we retired started to go twice yearly. Even got view from Cafe Del Mar on my mobile

Won a holiday on the radio and I could go anywhere in Turkey I wanted.Travel agent recom Icmeler as it seemed to be what I was looking for....took my sister and we have been back for 2 weeks and are going to book up for Sept time we loved it...

A friend of mine recommended Icmeler to us and we just fell so in love with the place.

When we left to come home last year, it's the first time I have ever cried to leave a place behind. It felt I was leaving my home and family behind.

For anyone who is going for the first time...nothing prepares you for the warm genourosity of the locals, they treat you like they have known you all your life. The place is just beautiful, and so family orientated.

So all you Icmeler Virgins - we will see you back next year, and the year after, and the year after that...............

Same as several others....stumbled across it almost by accident, but what a happy accident it turned out to be!

Looking for a reasonably priced holiday last October - hubby fancied Tenerife but the prices were outrageous. Came across a great deal for Turkey, which we'd never really considered before, decided to take the plunge and booked up.
Had a fabulous time and couldn't wait to return this year. The people are so friendly - what a pleasant change from some of the poor service we've had elsewhere (Spain springs to mind!) - and the scenery was just amazing - so much greener and lusher than I'd pictured it, for some reason. Flying out two weeks today - bring it on!!
