Hi Avril,
Stayed at Selen hotel last last and had a great holiday.
Good hotel in a good location, if the apartments are as good as the hotel you should have a great time.
The supermarket under the apartments was giving a great exchange rate when exchanging your money so no need to look any further for that!!

Hope you have a great holiday!!

Hmmm....just got back on Monday from staying the Selen Apartments, with mixed feelings to be honest!

They are nice enough, basic but nice. The rooms are cleaned daily (at varying times though) not sure how often the towels were changed though. The decor could do with being changed, the kitchen units match the wardrobe! The bedroom itself was tiny. Enough for 2 single beds, a bedside cabinet and a wardrobe. We had a corner apartment so we had a HUGE balcony outside, but i did see that other balconies were very small as well.

The guy that runs the shop below the apartments was spot on and seem to be working from 7am until 3am! And as already stated will offer you a good exchange rate! However he did say his 19 year old cousin (or was it Nephew?) was coming to help him out this week!

My main complaint would be about the amount of noise outside our apartment. Some sort of structure was being built, not unlike a garage, right outside our window for the whole week we were there. This meant there was loads of sawing, tiles being cut, hammering. Then they started on a metal fence which needed welded, etc. I think they are creating some sort of Crazy Golf course opposite the apartments. Considering I though Icmeler council want all construction to be finished before the start of the season, I though the amount of noise was beyond acceptable. I'm not one to complain though so we just lived with it. We werent in the apartment much anyway, but the noise would wake us in the morning.

I also didnt particularly like the service we got from the Selen Hotel restaurant. We had to wait ages to be served...and even longer again for someone to walk past so we could ask for the bill. Needless to say I saw me sitting twice for over 10 minutes waiting on the bill appearing. there didnt seem to be any desire to build some rapport with us. Or maybe we were just spoiled last year by the friendliness of the staff at the Daystar who couldnt do enough for us and always sat down for a chat!

I cant comment on the food at night as we didnt eat there. We only had breakfasts, which for the money were so-so. We ate better breakfasts at Aysima in the town and for less YTL.

Service at the pool is top notch though...although there is no atmosphere. I found it very boring! The pool itself is nice enough although cold, but arent they all? There is of course also the slide for the kids/wannabe kids ;)

Asked if I would go back to the Selen Apartments...I would probably say no and find somewhere a little smaller, with its own pool, and with friendlier staff. But I would say that by no means are the apartments bad, they just werent what we were looking for!

Yeah Mını golf ıs now completed and also there are about 5 bouncy castles that are ın the bıt opposıte the aparts.
I agree about the servıce of selen beıng slow...but thıs ıs due to all the staff changıng...problems wıth management saw all the old staff (best ones) goıng!!! We also waıted 40mıns for breakfast one day and complaıned as they actually forgot!! but as days go by they are gettıng up to speed

Avril,
Selen is not too bad but if you are looking for great food and good service at great prices you are only 50 metres from the Holiday Restaurantwhere Mehmet, Omar and the boys will spoil you rotten. tell them big Jimmy the Celtic fan was asking for them.

Hi Bec, it was nice to meet you at the Tolan, is it a loud bar at the back as I know the new owners were opposed to it

We are just back from Selen 2 and it was good for us as we didnt spend alot of time at the hotel....yeah the pool is the same depth at both ends about 5ft I think........one side of the pool gets sun in am and the other half in pm which was fine for us as not busy and could move beds but dont no how that will be when its busy time..its in good location for all the shops and restuarants and our hotel room was always cleaned and fressh towels given...9sometimes even flowers from the maid)...enjoy

OKay...one side of the pool gets the sun pretty much all day the side furthest away from the hotel. But as the day creeps on the rest of the pool area becomes shaded so that pretty much only the afore mentioned side is getting any sun by about 4pm. This is also a problem because there is only space for about 20 beds max on that side!

When we were there 2 weeks ago it was busyish at the pool so we ended up just going to the beach where you get the benefit of the sea breeze which the pool is almost totally sheltered from!

As for the pool...it is rather deep. I am 5'11" and could keep my head out the water if I stood on my tip toes. So no idea how deep the actual pool is from that!
