How much higher are these factors going to go in sun creams....OK I know there's a lot of hype about skin cancer, but I think there is also a lot of scaremongering out there too.

I was watching the One Show the other night, and they reckon you need to slop on one sixth of a bottle every couple of hours..... yeah right!

I seen that too JB, imagine using that amount, you'd have to take about 10 bottles for the fortnight, it'd cost a fortune!!
I'm always careful, use a 20 for majority of holiday, and try put it on every hour if i'm sitting about, but you would seriously go through a bottle everyday between 2 of you!!!!!

I did read something interesting in the paper about a survey that which? had done and there was a few sun creams that didnt have the spf factor that it was specifing on the bottle. Apparently one of the best it reckoned was wilkinsons own brand. Cant complain for £3-odd a bottle

i used to use lard now i dont use anything just rub my sweatin.
Apparently ladies are attracted to sweat i should have thousands swarming round me but i just attract flies.

Never seen Wilkinsons sun cream, where do you buy that gazz?

Also read online the other day that some suncreams aren't as high a factor as they say on the bottle. If that's not right then how are we meant to get it right???

It's scary isn't it that some creams might not be the factor thats stated on the bottle. I have very pale skin and fair hair so I probably spend well over the odds on reputable brands when I probably don't have to.

I am naturally very dark haired and fair skinned and used to burn in the sun, but now am a bleach blonde (and love it) but since 2005 have been using a sunshower for a few months before every holiday and found that i do not burn in the sun. I use the lowest factor possible (spy crisp and dry lol) and do not burn at all.

I know there has been a lot of bad press about sunbeds and sunshowers in the media but feel that there is a lower risk from using them than getting burnt so bad that i blister. When i was 18 went to Great Yarmouth and spent a day on a boat on the Norfolk Broads and burnt so bad that my shoulders blistered and i still have the scars now and i am in my early 40's. So will stick with what suits me best, sunbed before i go and factor 2 or 4 while away.

Plus when i feel depressed in the winter then a quick 9 mins in the sun shower lifts my depression as when i am standing in there then all i think about is being back in Icmeler and feeling the sun on me and i feel so much better.

Please note this is my personal choice and will not be suitable for everyone.

Anyway only 5 days till i get married and 6 till we are in heaven.

I read about the which? survey too, Tesco own brand,Malibu and Marks & Spencers were other ones that they found a problem with.

They did say Sainsbury's, Asda own brand and Wilkinson's were very good at roughly £3 or under per bottle,along with the dearer ones like Ambre Solair,L'oreal etc

If anyone has a Home Bargains, Quality Save, or Bodycare shop near them, you can get all the Big Brands like Ambre Solaire for under 4 quid in all factors.

Personally I used to use one called P20 it lasts all day, and creates like a film on your skin, only use once a day and you can swim in it and it and you wont have to re-apply. One coat lasts about 10 hours. Going to use a cheaper one this year, but it claims to do the same thing.

It's not fair, I can use factor 20 and 10 mins in the sun I look like a tomatoe. I always go red

I also use the sun bed before i go as otherwise i get really bad prickly heat which turns to little blisters. I also have to take priton to calm it down.

Alot of pre tan work goes in but i always tan really well after all this and it lasts longer!!!!

Get P20 Colette, it is really good. You wont burn I used to burn terrible but this is really good. It's about 10 quid but is good. I trying a cheaper one this year called CP20 supposed to be the same but it's slightly cheaper.
